MINUTES CF F9 VIOU3 MEETING - The minutes of.the last Council meeting held on november 15, 1944 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. PU3LIC HEARINGS - '1:r Leroy Nichols, representing Lodi Coordinating Council, presented a letter and addressed the Council concerning a project initia- ted in the Coordinating Council for the erection of a public building in honor of the Veterans of ,Yorld War II designed for use by the youth of this co..a:nity as a place of education and recreation. :after some discuss- ion as to the d. sign of such a building, the City Council promised Sir Nichols that full consideration would be given this proposal but that, at this tine, the City Council could not express its opinions in the matter. '•:otices of transfers of alcoholic beverage licenses at 113 N. Cherokee Lane, 104 east Lodi Avenue and 8 North Main Street were received from the State 2oard of Equalization. r.=IC..T10 3 - NOTICES & REPORTS - Ed Spiekerman Concrete Pipe Company applied by letter for permission to remove curbing and change the slope of the sidewalk in front of the East s of Lot 2 in Kock 2, Hutchins Addition (415-419 5. Sacramento St.) so as to permit better access for his trucks to these premises. On the recommend- ation of the Assistant City Engineer, permission was granted as applied for, providing that Spiekerrnan maintained a fence in the center of this lot's Tice on Sacramento Street for the safety of pedestrians. - Notice of a hearing before a subcommittee of the State Senate Committee on Post -"Aar Censtruotion to be held in Stockton December 8, 1944 was received from Senator Jesse L. Mayo. City Engineer C.L.".hite stated that his office could prepare the estimates required by the Committee and Councilman Tolliver and representatives of the City Engineer's office were asked to attend the hearing. A leiter dated November 7,1944 from the District Rationing Executive of O.P.A. at Sacramento concerning gasoline economy and advocating the appointment of a Local mileage Ali inistrator was received, read and ordered filed. Mr.J_an A. He Ling, representing the City at the 1944 annual m=eting of California Menecipal Utilities Association held in Fresno, November 26 to 2Sth, presented his report of the meeting and the same was read at length. The Manor thanked it Henning for the completness of his report. Monthly reports of the Chief of Police and of the City Poundmaster for the month of November were received, read and ordered filed. In the matter of the opening of Cypress Street, initiated in 1938, under a system of voluntary contributions and city participation; it appearing that several property owners had paid their contributions in full, the Mayor was authorized to deed parts of tido eight foot strips not needed for this street to _butting property owners who had so *;aid, by the adoption of Resolution ;o 1214, introduced by Councilman Ri_ e, Tolliver second and carried by unan- imous vote of all members of the City Council. In the matter of the replacement of broken sidewalk, cerbs and gutters on the :ortheat corner of the intersection of Pine and School Streets, the prevail- ing per diem wages for workmen to be employed on this job was determined by the aeopt_on of Resc.lution 1215, introduced by Councilman ;;eihe, Coffield second and carried by unanimous vote of all members of the City Council. In the same proceeding as above, plans and specifications for this work were a•:proved and a. -opted by the passage of Resolution No 1216 introduced by Councilman eine, Riegs second, and carried by unanimous vote of all members of the City Council. ?!
