MINUTES OF PF.EVIOUS K TING - The minutes of the last meeting held August 16,
19" were read, aproved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
PUBLIC HEARINGS - =.ntoinette Ferrero and Peter E. Gianini orally protested
that the closing of the tavern conducted by them as "Teresi's Flace" at
314 East.Lodi avenue was arbitrary and without due notice, it seemingly
being their contention that they at least should be allowed to continue
to operate until stocks on hand could be licuidated and a new location
secured. Both were informed that the closing of their business was the
decision of the State Board of Equalization after public hearing and that
any modification of the decision rendered would necessarily have to come
from that Board as the City Council has no power over alcoholic beverage
licenses.

A remonstrance against the granting of permission to move a frame two
story building from 41-9 S. Sacramento Street to 715 S. School Street signed
by twenty-five property owners was received and read in connection with
Building Pernat A7piication No 653. Granting of this permit was postponed
?ending filing complete plans of the house, further investigation by the
Building Inspector and report of the City Attorney on the City's powers
in such cases to deny the permit or to deny permission to use public streets
for such removal.
Notice of the change of ownership of the "off sale" beer and wine
license held at 61-0 S. Sacramento St was received from the State -Board of
Equalization.
Per,orts of the Chief of Police and of the City Ponndmaster for the month
of August were received, read and ordered filed

OPDINANCE NO 303, entitled, " AN ORDINANCE AMENDING OPDINANCE NO. 215,
ENTITLED ' AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CERTAIN ORDINADICIES AND ESTABLISHING RATES
FOR THE SATTZ OF ELECTRIC ENERGY BY THE CITY OF LODI' " :as introduced on
motion of Councilman 7ieihe, Coffield second, read at length by the Clerk
and, by the same motion, ordered introduced and laid over for the statutory
period of not less than five days.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS -
The City Clerk was directed to publish a notice of sale covering seven
parcels of laud, one with improvements thereon, three times in local papers
and to set the time for reception of sealed bids for purchase of the same
at 5:00 o'clock P.M. of Wednesday, October 4, 1944, provided this action met
with the a.proval of the City attorney.
TON BUSIPTESS - Applications for Business Licenses were received from the
following persons and ordered to take the course prescribed by Ordinance 277:

Ida Ehrlenbush Laundry 312 East Pine St
Fred "3. Brown Contractor 522 S. Church St
Gust Parikos Restaurant 19 N. Sacramento St
Roof & Silva Card Room 8 N. Main Street.
License applications first presented A::gust 2nd were ordered granted.
City Engineer C. L. White reported on right-of-way difficulties encountered
between the present sewage disposal plant site and Harney Lane across private
properties and recommended that the proposed out -fall line follow State Hiway
53 and the Lower Sacramento Road to Harney Lane, an additional distance of
800 feet. '.'he City Council approved the proposed change.
Chief of Police Jackson appeared at 8:55 o'clock P.3i. and recommended
that Lester F. ?leaver, from the Police Patrolman eligible list established
September 5th, be appointed temporary police patrolman for a period of three
months effective i.:Jaediately as the coming grape season would entail more
work in his department. Recommendation approved, motion 'ieihe, Tolliver.

Claims in the amount of $29 743.03 as ap—Eroved by the Finance Committee
were allowed and .rd -?red paid, motion Councilman Coff_eld, 7leihe s2ccnd.
:-Xx UTNE SESSION - The Cour_cil was resolved into executive session at 9:26
o'clock P.M., returning to open meeting at 9:43 o'clock P.M.
On motion of Councilman Riggs, reihe second, the Engineering Department
was authorized to experiment with lime treatment for odor control at the
industrial waste plant at a cost of a;.;proximately ;500.00
ADJCUR":a-NT - At 9:48 o'clock P.M. the City Council adjourned on motion of
