Polanske, Fire Chief. 11INUTES CF PPEVICUS =111f, - The minutes of the last Council meeting held June 21, 192:4 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. PUBLIC HZd;RINGS : (1) Several residents of East Lodi Avenue between lashington Street and Centre Avenue appeared in oral protest against the alleged nuisance maintained at 314 East Lodi avenue by A.^tinette Ferrero, doing business as "Teresils Place", on premises owmed by Fred L. Freshour. Benjamin Schaffer and his •+rife, L. H. Lukens and his wife and Mrs Ar.hur Nichols presented statements supporting their contention that this puce rrs conducted as a low dive where drunkedness and obscene conduct ryas pe.:..itted to the harp of thw irhole neighborhood. The City Council expressed opinions ir_ favor of the protestants and City attorney Glenn ".lest advised that action could be had irnedi_tely if Ane mater was properly presented to the State =card of Equalization. Final action was postponed for consideration later in the meeting. (2) _�+i.l 3ender representing Lodi Sportsmans Club asked that the City Cou--ic*l assist the C-lub in its efforts to rear black bass in tris vicinity by 'ce�ping water in Lodi Lake during the entire year. ?Air :.ender :pas informed that the Cit; r Council o>-ered no objection to the project providing it could be assured that no hap could come to other property owners by reason of the hold- 9nc of writer during the -printer season. (3) Kr E. . Devine of AmericaSr Fruit Growers, Inc. asked favorable con- slderation of the application of S.uthern Pacific Company for permission to construct a spur track at grade over East Tokay Street and at the order of the „;ayor, this matter was .hen taken up. The City Engineer seem no objection tc this crossing, Resolution No 1207 granting permission to the Southarn Pac- ific C=any to construct and operate this track was introduced on motion of Councilman 4eihe, Corfield second and carried by the assenting votes of all members of the City Council. ^C'�J?'ICATIONS, NOTICES & PAWCRTs - 'tctice of a meating before the State Industrial Accident Co mission on _.endments to Electrical Safety Orders to be held iri San Francisco on July 12th at 10 :1:', -.:as received and ordered referred to y:r J. The report of the Chief of Police for the month of June and also that of the City Poundmaster for the same period was received, read and ordered filed. The 2uartarly Report of the Chief of the Fire Department for the quarter ended June 30, 1944 was also read and ordered filed. Police Judge Ferguson made a wrtiten report of activities of the City Court for Lhe past six months setting forth in detsl his tabulation of the various offenses tried, the results and the fines collected. OP111N7.k.CRS & RESOLUTIONS - It a gearing that P.esolution No 1204 adopted June 21,1944 has specified securities in amounts not fitting the government issues, this resolution was amended to corply with the facts by the adoption of Resolution 1204-A intro- duced by Councilman Rigs, 1eihe second, and carried by unani^aous vote. On report of the Librarian of Lodi Pubic Library that the terms of office of Libra.rr Trustees Ridenour and 1:ei0sner had expired Jure 30th, these two were rea-opoint_ed for three year ter -as by the adoption of Resolution P;o 1205 ir`roduce-i. by Councilman Ccl'field, "ieihe second, and carried by unanimous vote. Formal authorization of the execution of an agreement with the Department of Pubic :;crks for the accumulation of Sasoline tax funds was directed by the adoption of Resolution Np 1205 or unanimous vote of the City Counc i. TlivThe City Clerk reported the receipt of rent money on the Clyde C. Fox lease arc? its proration between the City and George W. Mayor ?a.nn then signed the formal application. License :_'atters: The application of Albi^_o Piazza for permission to transfer his Card and Dice Game License from the premises at 24 South 'Yain St to 14 South Lain Street w.:.s =flowed in accordance -rith the provisions of Ord- inance No 2?7 on the vote of CourciLmen Coffield, Ri=gs, Tolliver, :ieihe and Rinn. The five acplications for business licenses presented June 7, 19-44 coming on for final hearing, the Clerk reported that the Chief of Police had oojacted to the granting of none of them, and all were or?ered granted. XECOTI.E ...73SIC.T - At 10.18 o'clock ?X1. the City Council was resolved into Co =:ittee of the mole and the Council so remained until 11:28 o'clock P:% V. -.en onen meeting was resumed. Te Superintendent of Streets was directed to exact a bond in the xmc-,rt of K2, 000 from The Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company as a condition precedent to granting that company permission to cut through the pavement on nr^:h Street for the laying of conduit. City attorney Glenn iYest vas instructed to take such action before the State Board of Ecualization or in the Courts as would insure abatement of the nLisar_ce maintained at "Teresi's" place, 31L East Lodi Avenue, subject of the complaints made before the Council earlier in the evening.
