June 7,1944 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.

licenses were received from the State Board of Eoualization.
Crawford J. Porterfield, C--rtified Public Accountant, Forum Building,
Sacramento 14,Calif. asked by letter that he be notified of the time in

R. E. Looser notified the Council that he had succeeded to the business
of Vr J. L. Hellwig and would hereafter service insurance policies form-

cial assistance through matching funds was received from the League of
California Cities.
The City Clerk's report, required by Resolution No 1200, stating the amount
of money collected for scavanger fees and the amounts paid to Sanitary
.ity Stavanger Company for collections May 16 to June 15,1944 was received.
A-s'.stant City Engineer L.P.Singer submitted a written report showing that
extra ordinary expenses in the amount of $90.30 had been entailed at Lodi
Stadium by the rodeo held June 3 b 4. The Clerk was directed to collect

co munication from Poundmaster Forrest E. Cooper asking Council assistance
in obtaining greater publicity for violations of the local animal ordinance

The request of the Finance Co:rmittee for the Fifth lar Loan sjkmitted June

answered by the adoption of Resolution No 1204 directing the investment of
City :oneys to the amount of $80,000, introduced by Councilman Coffield,
Tolliver second and carried by the follo-iing vote:

reco mendation of the Chief of Police in regards to salaries of three
Police Patrolmen was laid over for consideration later in the meeting.

This being the date set by Resolution No 1202 adopted June 7th and by
notice duly published in accordance therewith, for the opening of sealed
bids on Lezal Publications for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1944,
bids in proper fora were received and publicly opened from the Lodi Times
and the Lodi News -Sentinel and on canvass thereof, a+:ard of contract was
made to The Lodi Times as the lowest bidder by the passage of Resolution
No 1203 by unanimous vote of all Councilmen present.

Al! City den=rtments were directed to assist the sonsors of the Lodi Day
Care
Child -Center to be established on the old Salem School grounds
so that the same could be put into operation as soon as possible.
