The family of the late Florence Shealor expressed their appreciation
by letter to the City Council for c;urtesies shown them during the
illness and death of Mr Shealor.
+n a•:plication for the position of Utility Manager and Engineer was
_eceived from Seth N. Jordan, 2414 Piddle Road, Davenport, Iowa.
There being no vacancy, the application was ordered filed.
Notice of transfer of a :olesale B:er Mine Dealers permit to line
Growers Guild was received from the State Board of Equalization
Uomplaint of Mr .&• Mrs J. C. Huffman regarding the strict enforcement
of the housing laws and ordinances was ordered referred to the Building
Inspector.
A letter from T. J. Hallinan regarding alleged trespass on she Y xray
properties abutting on Lodi Stadi:.un was referred to the City Engineer.
Mayor Rinn re-.orted briefly on a recent inspection of the Lodi unit
of the California State Guard and The Council directed that a letter
expressing she appreciation of the City Council for having been grant-
ed this orivilidge and for the efforts of officers and men of the unit
in maintaining the high standards evident be sent to Lieut Watson.

2dillard L. Fore, an eligible for temporary employment prom the last
examination for police patrolman, was appointed police patrolman at
a salssy of S170.00 monthly effective June 1, 1944 by the adoption
of Resolution No 1198, introduced by Councilman 71eihe, Riggs second,
and carried by unanimous vote.

ayor Rina reported the resignation of 'dr Leroy Nichols as Director of
the Citizens Service Corps and as Ohai:rman`= of Lodi ;lar Price and Rat-
ioning Board due to ill health. Mayor Rinn nominated Mr George 71.Lytle
to succeed Mr Nichols in both capacities, stating that this appoint-
ment had the approval of the ?lar Council. On motion of Councilman
Coffield, Tolliver second, ;:r Lytle's appointment was confirmed and
approved.
Director of Recreation, Arvid 0. Pauly, submitted a written list of
temporary employees and proposed salaries and wages for the coming
Summer season at Lake Park, the Municipal Baths and at the various
Playgrounds. This schedule was approved on motion of Councilman
Rig-gs, Coffiel3 second.
Conforming tb the provisions of the agreement dated March 1,1944
with Sanitary City Scavanger Company, so that payments could be made
on or before the 15th dal of each month, Resolution No 1200 was
introduced by Councilman Coffield, Ri:-:gs second and adopted by the
following vote:
AYES : Councilmen, Coffield, Riggs, To' -liver, ';leihe and Rinn
NOES: Cc uncilmen, None.
ABSENT: Councilmen, None.

eived and ordered to take the course prescribed by ordinance.

Business license applications presented April 19th, com_ng on to
be granted, there being no objections filed, were granted.
On the recommendation of L.?.Singer, Assistant City Engineer, -
Fred ,1. Post, Chief Operator at the Sewage Disposal Plant was
authorized to attend the Spring meeting of the California Sewage
?forks Association in Fresno. Motion Councilman Cof£ield, 4eihe second.
On the recommendation of Councilman Tolliver, Disabled American War
Veterans were granted use of ball -park space for parking lots June
3rd & 4th during the rodeo to be staged in Lodi Stadium, provided
that protection to property was insured by including these lots in
the stadium rental agreement together with liability insurance.
The City Council was then resolved into executive session, returning to
open meeting at 9:48 o'clock P.M. when adjournment was taken on motion
of Councilman 'Ieihe.

No. 1197, adopted May 3, 1944.
June 9,19'•4: 1h e City Council of the City of Lodi met as Co.-.mittee of
the "r'hcle in the offices of the City Clerk at 5:30 P -M., P;7r, Councilmen
Coffield, Tolliver, r.,eihe and 'Mayor ?jinn present, Councilman Ri_•gs absent,
being in Los Angeles. Glenn i.'est,City Attorney and J.F.Blakely,City Clerk
also present. Mr George .I.imde appeared at 5:55 o'clock P.M.
General discussion of the matter of the access ri:ht of %ray for the
proposed main line sewer outfall from the. south line of Bessie B.Fowler's
land, lead to the following conclusion:
T'.^,at the only concession by the City to Mr Emde for this right of way
;vould be some adjustment in the tentative lease of those parts of the
City's land not i mediately required, such as a reduction in the price
per acre for the first five years of the lease, the terms of the lease
or option for renewal thereof. A rental of $2.00 per acre for the first
five years, $2.50 for the next five years and then the going rental rate
for any further extension was tentatively a;proved, cmde to have the
ri-ht to renew or reject the lease at the end of the five year periods.

Geo ;t. :;:de et ux, -r:as drawn in favor of Security Title Insurance and
Guarantee Company and 3ecosited in escrow by City Attorney ,rest pending
clearance of title to this land.
