November 17,1943 were read and an -,,roved without correction,

complained orally about an infestation of rats. lie was assured that the
Co»nril would have the local representative of the San Joaquin Commission-
er of Agriculture and of the kcal Health District investigate and take
steps necessary to abate this nusisance. Mr Ree -3e, holder of an agreement
with the city providing fcr the removal of sore -rinds from the city sewage
dis-posal plant applied for an increase in comLensation to tales care of
added transportation expense. At the order of the 'Mayor, this application
vias ordered laid crrer for action later is the meeting.

letter of appreciation was received from Lodi Child Day Care Center,
thanking the City for its assistance in making operation- of the center
a successful venture.
petition asking that Cypress Street be graded was received from several
abutting re..s-dents and property owners. At the suggestion of Ur J.A.Hen_-ling,
this application was turned over to hire so that he might contact property
owners affected and try to arrange for opening of the street.
Reports of the Chief of Police and of the City Poundmaster for the month of
.. ..tber were received, read and ordered filed. (The Poundmaster's report
also covered the month of October, dur'_ng which he was on vacation)
Superintendent of Public Utilities John A. 'Henning and City Engineer
C. L. :White f=led a written, concurrent report on a conference of publicly
owned electric distribution system owners and representatives of the Bureau
of :reclamation held in Sacramento November 15th for the purpose of ascert-
aining teams and conditions to be exacted by the Federal Government for
electric energy to be purchased fro; the Central Valley Project. The
report was coL ended by the Mayor and provoked extensive discussion of
present and future policies of the city in regard to profits from the
distribution of electricity.
The Adj,itar_t General of the State of California filed his acceptance of the
City's tender of fres use of the Armory for December in a further effort to
recruit a company of the State Guard.

The Committee a. -,pointed by the Mayor November 17th for studf of tho
buildinZ Code" reported one meeting held and recommended study
of a fire prevention ordinance to be adopted in conjunction therewith.
The co-.nittee stated that proper material would be soon prepared for use of
a City .Attorney in the drafting of an adopting ordinance. The
co ^i tae was continued in existence.

City Fngineer C. L. ;t'hits was directed to inspect a trenching machine
owned by Santa Clara Conse nation District with a view to its purchase
if suitable and in good condition.
At 11:00 o'clock P.M., on motion of Councilman 71eihe, the City
Council adjourned. -

ZD2NDA - Rx Lewis T. L'ason, donor -of additional lands by recent deed,
received the unanimous acproval of the City Council for his public
spirit ma&ifested at this and previous times, ;Thereby the City had
been enabled to make Lake Paris an essential aldition to the park
and recreation facilities of the community. It was directed that
a letter be written hr Mason, ex.ressing the appreciation of the
City Council on behalf of the Citizens of Lodi.
It was also directed that a letter of'anpreciation be mailed
to the City Kanagar of the City of Stockton voicing the City Council's
reco;nitior, of the assistance given the City of Lodi by !!r `.-7.A.Curtis,
auilding inspector of the City of Stockton for his material aid and
advice in connection rich the study of the Uniform a;.ilding Code and
the adaption of t`•:is ^.ode to the needs of the City of Lodi.
•Acticn in both the above cases was had on unanimous voice of
all *members of the City Council.
