MINUTES OF PR VICUS MEETING - The minutes of the last City Council meeting held October 20, 1943 were read at length by the Clerk, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. PUBLIC H_ARINGS - No persons appearing, this order was passed. CCAfUNICATIONS- NCTICES-REPOP.TS - A le -ter from Fray Hays, Adjutant General of the State of California accepting the City's offer of free rental of the armory building for 30 days beginning November 1 so as to allow further time for the organization of a State Guard unit was read. Instructions for the further conservation of gasoline during the present emer- gency as prepared by the Director of the Office of Defense Transportation were crdered referred to the City Engineer and the Chief of Police. Notices of transfers of ownership of alcoholic beverage licenses at No 27 and at No 31 N. Sacramento Street were received from the State Board of Equalization. .ne report of the Chief of Police for the month of October was received, read and ordered filed. The City Clerk reported that the public liability insurance policy of H w . Mahaffey, proprietor of City Cab Company, had been re -instated and the notice to appear ordered October 20th had therefore been cancelled. ORDINANCES & RESCLUTICNS - Resolution No 1180, relative to workmen's compensation insurance for volun- teer civilian defense workers was introduced by Councilman Spooner, Riggs second and passed by the following vote: AYE'S: Councilmen, Spooner, Riggs, Coffield and Rinn (4) NOES: Councilmen, None (0) ABSENT: Councilman, .'+eine (1) ORDINANCE NO 293, entitled " AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE ZONrS having been regularly introduced on October 20, 1943 was brought up for passage on motion of Councilman Riggs, Coffield second, second reading omitted after reading of title by unanimous consent, and finally passed, adopted and ordered to print by the following vote: A'S'S: Councilmen, Riy-gs, Coffield, Spooner and Rine (4) NOES: Councilmen, None (0) ABSEIIT: Councilmen, +4eihe (1) ORDINANCE NO. 294, entitled, " AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 283 OF THE CITY OF LODI ENTITLED I AN OFDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LODI RELATLNG TO RESTRICTED LIGHTING ' " was introduced by Councilman Spooner, Riggs second, read at length by the Clerk, and, by the sane motion, laid over for the statutory period of not less than five days. 7NFI;IISHED BUSINESS - The City Clerk and the Assistant City Engineer submitted a proposed schedule of charges for rental of " Lodi Stadium". They were instructed to use this schedule as a guide to rents :there ap;:licaticns were received which requred action before a aaeting of the City Council could be had. NEY BUSINESS - Applications for business licenses were received from L. Cf:icone, auto repairs, 122 East Lodi Avenue and all applications filed with the Ccuncil October 6th were approved and licenses ordered granted. 398 j_ T^V n:J-T �- L" O_7 :ALL --- C=._ OF LORI (minutes of Nov 3,1943, continued) PA.=- INT OF CTAI3:S - Claims in the amount of &24,481.83 as approved by the Finance Ccrrr.u.ttee were allowed and warrants ordered dram: on the Treasury in payment there- of on motion of Councilman Coffield, Riggs second. The application of Henry Schenkenberger, laborer in the Street Department, for three months leave of absence without pay was approved on recomendat- ior_ of the Assistant City.7-ngineer. Assistant City Engineer L.P.Singer Jr was instructed to extend the Rail- road Avenue -storm drain for about six hundred feet easterly, using pipe on hand and such new pipe as might be required. Mr John A. Henning presented a letter calling a meeting of interested bodies contemplating purchase of Shasta Project electric power to be held in Sacramento November 15th. Yr Henning and City Engineer White were instructed to attend the meeting. At 9:18 o'clock P.M. the Council was resolved into Committee of the Jhole and the room cleared, returning to open session at 11:30 o'clock P.M. On motf-on of Councilman P.iggs, Spooner second, the existing garbage coll- ection contract with Sanitary City Scavenger Company, as extended on August 4, 1943, was again extended to and until January 1, 1944 At 11:32 o'clock P.M. the City Council adjourned on motion of Councilman Coffield.
