were read at length by the Clerk, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
PUBLIC HEARINGS - No nersnn3 appearing this order of business was passed.
COMMUNICATIONS -
A letter +'roc Lt Galen Steeder, GSMC, Police Patrolman on military leave
concerning promotionary rights of employees absent in the armed forces was read.
The Clerk was directed to assure Lt Stouder that he would not suffer any loss of
his rights in the :Mice tepart. ert.
A letter from the local agent of Southern Pacific Company endorsing
the a::r;lication of J.C.Pe.ney Company for allotment of a loading zone on West Oak
Street was referred to the Chief of Police and the. Deputy City Engineer with
instructions to make a survey of possible loading zones in the business district
and report to the Council at it's next meeting.
Cne notice of transfer of alcoholic beverage license affecting the
premises at 29 N. Sacramento -Street im.s received from the State Board of Equal-
ization..

JiI'TNISHLD BUSINESS -
Mayor Rinn reported -rogress in the matter of the acquisition cf the
land needed for the City's proposed sewage and waste disposal outfall plant. He
also outlined a le -ter he had written to General Ray Hays of the California
State Guard asking for an extension if time it which to secure enlistments in
the Lodi Company. At his su:gestion, the Clerk res directed to advise the
Adjutant General's ("ffice that the City would anax the State tc occupy the
armory building for a period of from 30 to 60 days after the expiration of it's
present lease sot rental charge, providing that the State kept the building
:ander the same care and maintenance as at present.
