MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: fhe minutes of the last meeting held February 17, 1943 were read et length b;r the Clerk, approved without correction and so endorsed b1 the Mayor. PUBIC HEARINGS: Arvid Pauly, Director of Recreation filed his monthly report of recreational activities for the month of February arra also addressed the Council in- regard to the obtaining complete use of Lodi Armory fora recreat- _on center for the war duration, filing a letter setting forth its advantages. Hobert 0.McL&re, .resident of the City Employee's Associat- ion filed recommendations a: to alterations ir. Resolutions Nos 1149 and 1150 proposed in the Council February 17tn. After some discussion, this matter was referred to the City Attorney and the Executive Board of the Association for conference and report at the next Council meeting. CCi.IJIIC„:IoNS, NOTICES AND REPORTS: n letter written from the offices of Lodi District Chamber of Commerce urging su:port of the Tokay Band for 1943 considered. The Council re -affirmed its stand taken February 17:tn in denying an appropriation for this purpose, it being its expressed opinion that the sum of '500.00 was too large and t%.at this money cc::ld be better spent under existing ivar condition. Mrs Fred Gessler, lessee of the Lake Par.. Refreshment Star.; asked for painting and repairs at this building. City Engineer Clinton Henning stated that all practical parts of her request was under way. .. :ort.. .f the Chief of Police and of the City Poundmaster for the ronth of February were received, read and ordered filed. UN=INI3HEn 3CSINEdS: The Clerk reported due publication of "Notice to Bidders” in the matter of alterations in the City Hall Basement to enlarge quarters occupied by Lodi :lar ?rice and Rationing Board and that no bids had been received by him. It being apparent that further advertising would be of no avail, it was moved by Councilman Coffield, r.'eihe second and carried by unanimous vote that this work proceed with materials on hand and available by day labor, under the supervision of the City Engineer Nil B"3INESS: License Applications filed by C.P.Peters, Restaurant, A. Ferreri, Restaurant, Riley J.Thompson, Garage and F .M.Geisert, Merchant were presented and ordered to tate the course prescribed by Ordinance 277. License A._plications first read February 3, 1943 were again considered, being applications Nos 419 to 425 inclusive, and the Chief of Police having filed no objections, the same were ordered granted. PAYMENT CF CLAWS: Claims in the amount of $20,926.9]. as approved by the Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman Coffield, Riggs second.
