(0) ?dIWT�rS OF PREVIOUS STING - The ninutes of the last meeti*ig of the City Council held January 6, 1943 were read at length by the Clerk, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. PUBLIC HEARINGS - Mr Leroy Nichols addressed the Council favoring the application of Mr Geo P. du Bose, Chairman Evacuation Committee, San Joaquin Safety Council for a monthly appropriation of 426.00 to defray part of the cost of maintaining a registration clerk at B & Hazleton Streets, Stockton to register and file names of San Joaquin County children. The Council re -affirmed it's action on November 16, December 2 and January 6th denying this request as the cost could be more equitably spread by paying for this service from San Joaquin County funds. The Clerk was directed to so inform Mr du Bose. CCt2[JNICATIONS AND REPORTS - Reports of the City Clerk and of the City Treasurer for the quarter ended December 31, 1942 were received, read and ordered to the files. A letter addressed to Mayor Rinn from San Joaquin Safety Council soliciting continuance for Lodi's contribution of $30.00 monthly for the year 1943 :ras ordered laid over. CP_DINANCES & R S")LUTIO:IS - OFDINANCE NO 267 entitled " Aid OP.DIDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1110. 275 ENTITLED ' AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 250 RELATING TO AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC ON THE STREETS OF LODI"' having been regularly introduced on January 6, 1943 vias brought up for passage on motion of Councilman Riggs , '-'Weihe second, read at length by the Clerk, and finally adopted, passed and ordered to print by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen, Riggs, Weihe, Coffield, Spooner and Rinn (Mayor) NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT: Councilmen, None. The Mayor then signed the ordinance in approval thereof. UNFINISH:D BUSINESS - City Attorney Glenn '.Fest reported orally in regard to the effect of the Regulations of the Board of Appeal, Personnel Systen on transfers between departments. At the direction of the Mayor, the heads of various departments were ordered to submit proposals for such alterations in t, -.e Regulations as they might deem necessary not only as applying to transfers but also to sick leave and compensation for holiday work. �fE"1 BUSIPTESS - Notice of the application of James M.Prentice for an "on sale" beer license at Lodi Bowl, 106 ''lest Walnut Street was received from the State Board of Equalization. Business License A- plications Nos 419 to 431, after first reading, were ordered referred to the Chief of Police in accordance with ordinance Business License Applications No 414 (Lock Pain On - dba New China Cafe), No 415 (Rose Magnolia - dba Star Lunch)anf No 416 ( Nellie Williams), read before the Council on December 16,1942 were given second reading and there being no objections filed, licenses were ordered granted. On statement of the City Engineer, the Clerk was directed to allow H.G. Dutton, employed at the Sewage Disposal Plant 70g hours overtime for December 1942, it appearing that he had worked for sick and absent employees to the extent of this number of hours. EXECUTIVESESSION - At 9:35 o'clock P.M. the Mayor called the City Council i4to executive session and the room was cleared. Regular meeting was resumed at 10:50 P.M. after conferences with the Acting Fire Chief and the Chief of Police. OPEN MEETING RESUMED - Cn motion of Councilman Coffield, Riggs second and carried, the gages of Richard B. Venable, a Fire Truck Driver, were increased to $ 170.00 per month, effective as of January 1, 1943.
