Looser and Lee Yager requested the setting of a water rate for the 1942-43 season on vacant lots of the Bamert Subdiv- ision, estimating that about 19 acres would be used for the growing of vegetable crops. Superintendent of Public Utilities J.A.Sennirg extim- ated that the sun of 8240.00 fnr three montha use .could be correct. Cn account of the difficulty of estimating the t;—e during which water would be necessary, Looser and 3:aner were assured that the price would be about 8 4.00 per acre, they to use water at such times as it could be spared by the City and also that they pay the costs of ecnnecting to City water mains, Arvid 'rally, Director of Recreation reported on the recent Conference of the :Yestern Division of the National Recreation Association held in Oakland November 12, 13 and 14th. Applic- ation ordered referred to City Planning Commission for recce—mendation. In furtheresce of the application of the Chair:t:n of the Evacuation Committee of San Joaquin Defense Council for an appropriation of 428.00 monthly to maintain a clerk for registration of children at the County Defense Headquarters, another letter signed by Geo. P. D+L%- se as Chairman was received. The Clerk was directed to reply that the City Council deemed this to be a County -wide service and should be defrayed from San Joaquin County funds. REGULAR = ING - Continued - At the order or the Mayor, the City Clerk was directed to notify Foster and Vbod Canning Company by letter that conferences should be held immediately on the methods to be pursued in handling cannery wastes for the 1943 season. On mation of Councilman Riggs, Ccffield second, the following Resolution was introduced and read at length by the Cleric: RESOLUTION NO. 1148 VEMIc.AS, there is a vacancy in the membership of this City Council caused by the resignation of Councilman C. B. Bull, which said resignation was accepted by this City Council in regular meeting on November 18, 1942, and, .,EP -v AS it is incumbent on this City Council to appoint a successor to Er Bull within thirty days after the occurrence of such vacancy; Therefore, By IT P. SOINED, that :t. A. S'CONER known to this City Council to be qualified according to law, be, and he is hereby appointed a City Councilman of the City of Lodi, such appointment to be effective i Mediately and to continue to and until the next regular municipal election shall be held in v this City or until his sgccessor shall have been elected and shall have q::alified.
