This regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Lodi was called to order by the Layor at 8:00
_ .... at the place an-: on the date first above in these
minutes written. Councilmen Bull, Rijgs, .=Linn, '+.eihe and
Steele, 11.a7or present, none absent.
The minutes of the last meeting held January 21,
19L:2 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the
;,:ayor. .
'•=r. Ed _winn of the Valley Insulation Company
presented a proposal to install asbestos insulation in the
attic of the City Hall Building for the sum of $597.00
complete. At the order of the Liayor this proposal was
taken under consideration by the committee of the whole.
A letter containing a resolution adopted on
January 13, 1942 expressing the appreciation of the Board
of Trustees for the services of the late Dr. James E. nelson
was received frog the Trustees of the San Joaquin Local
wealth District.
The call for the annual spring meeting of the
Yayors and Councilmen Section of the League of California
Cities to be held in Fresno, Fehruary 1LI; and 15th was
received and read.
'The report of the Chief of Police for the month
of January and that of the :oundmaster for the same period
was received, read and ordered filed.
The City Attorney, Glenn ''jest reported that he
Lad prepared a tentative ordinance in the rr<atttr of
transferrin;; the collection and assessment of taxes to
San Joaquin County but as this could not be $ffected in
the present tax year, itseffect should be considered before
the ordinance eras introduced or adopted.
License applications No. 3206, 327, 328 and 329
were given first reading and tentatively approved, No. 329
on the consideration that the applicant file the bond
required by Ordinance :4o. 272.
Claims in the amount of $34,789.58 as approved
by the Finance -Committee were allowed and ordered paid on
motion of Councilman ''4eihe, seconded by Councilman nicgs.
At 8:52 P.L. the Mayor called the Council into
executive session for consultation with the City Engineer,
Chief of the Fire Derart.ment and Chief of Police and
returned to regular session_ at 10:15 o'clock F.Y.
On motion of Councilman Riggs, seconded by Councilman
Rinn, Fire Chief, Earl Yay was allowed his expenses and X25.00
a .;eek to enable him to attend the School of Instruction
in the use of fire equipment given by the Division of
Forestry at Davis, California in the week commencing
February 1;, 15L2.
On motion of Councilman Rinn, seconded by
Councilr_an 'ieihe it was ordered that the compensation
.aid Florance Shealor be -educed to X80.00 per month
for limited and ^..art time services.

On motion_ of Councilman Riggs, seconded by Counc_lr._an
inn, the Chief of =olice was allowed to employ an extra
ran for five hours per day at a wage not to exceed $60.00
mer month.
In the matter of the recorr=endatior_ of the Superintendent
of Public Utilities that Howard Eakles be placed on a
regular wage of 611;C.00 per month, no action was taken
pending consultation with the superintendent.
At 11:02.P.:. the City Council adjourned on the
motion of Councilman i:eihe.
