Z1. of ednesday,July 15, 1941. Present: Councilmen 3u11, Rigs, 'tieihe and Steele. Absent: Councilman Gruffigns. The minutes of the last meeting held July 2, 1941 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the iaayor. They were read by Effie L. GriffinDeputy Clerk, acting as Clerk of the Council in the absence of J. ..Blakely, City Clerk. 1:r. Ben Horton addressed the Council in regard to paving between the curb and pro -Party line at 121-123 N. Cherokee Lane. He was given permission to do so. Theodore Suess again appealed for Repeal of Ordinance =271 .elating to hours and times for sale of raw meats. She was advised by the Neyor that this had been definitely settled at a previous meeting of the Council. Lillian E. Butterfield, Chairman of the Central Valley League of California :.:uricipalities Neeting in Sonora on July 19, 1941, asked that reservations for delegates and friends be sent in. A letter from Edwin F. Darden was received asking for considera- tion of Insurance on the Steel 'Dater Tank. This was tabled. .•. communication from m R. Lawson, Administrator of Works Progress Administration, advised that work on the Sanitary Sewer Project number 11942 had beer. discontinued due to a drastic reduction in funds available. A letter fromrrr H. Hawkins, Scout Executive, noted the necessity of the passing of an ordinance by the City Council in order to create authority to cooperate in National Defense Programs. Crdinence ::o. 273, entitled, " AN C LINANCE CREATING A DEFENSE CCC :OIL AND PRESCRIBING ITS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES" introduced on motion of Councilman ;;eihe, seconded by Councilman and byte same -lotion laid over for the statutory period of not "-^ five days by the following record vote: Ayes: Councilmen Bull, Riggs, 'Peihe and Stehle. ::oes: Councilmen, ::one. Quarterly Reports of the City Treasurer and City Clerk for the Cuarter ended June 30, 1941 were _.ad and ordered filed, as was also the Attendance Report from the Lodi Lodi :ire Department. The Council then Proceeded to open sealed Bias received under notice duly riven for the Purchase of Police Radio E^uipnnent.
