THURSDAY, LIARCR 6, 1941.
Pursuant to the adjournment taken by the Clerk,
from its regular meeting of Larch 5, 19L1, the City Council
met in adjourned regular session at 5:00 o'clock on
Thursday, Larch 6, 194, Mayor Steele presiding, Councilmen
3u11, •lraffigra, rtigjs, .eihe and Steele present, none
absent.
The minutes of the last meeting held February 19,
1941 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the l:•ayor.
No persons aptearing at this time, the order of
public hearings was Passed and the Council proceeded to hear
communications and reports.
A letter from Chief of Police, C. S. Jackson
recommending the purchase of two machine guns was ordered
laid over until it could be taken up under the head of new
business later in the meeting.
Another letter from Mr. C. S. Jackson recomr..ending
the purchase of two-way radios for the Police Department was
oriered referred to the Committee on Public Health and Safety.
Reports of the Chief of Police for the month of
February and that of the Poundmaster for the same month
were received, read and ordered filed.
A letter from: the League of California cities
in regard to the mid -year meeting of Iriayors and Councilmen
to be held in Fresno was read and the Council determined
that the necessary expenses of any of its members who
might find it possible to attend would be deferred by the
City.
The Clerk reported that Mr. 0. Ti. Campbell of the
Fuclic i+dministratior. Service would be available to meet
with the Council or. the Monday following at t:00 o'clock r.?:.
A communication from the Federal Electric Corpany
in re,=ard to the non-payment of its bill for a fire alarm
whistle was referred to the Superintendent of Public
Utilities, it being the intent of the ,Louncil that at least
one more trial should be had before it was accepted or
rejected.
The petition of C H. Olson and others, together
:sigh the recommendations of the City Planning Commission in
op_-osition thereto asking that Pinkerton Avenue be laid out
as a fifty foot street was received and read. On motion. of
Councilman uraffigna, seconded by Councilman •eihe, the
recommendations of the Planrins Commission was approved
that this street should be opened at a width of sixty feet
between property lines.
Councilr..an Weihe was authorized to Purchase
materials for the playgrounds at a cost of a Proximately
r.•r. John A. Henning reported that the Union Ice
Company had rejected his proposal for the installation of
new transformers at the cost of the company, later thereon
to be raid by the City.
