This regular meeting of the Cit,- Council of the
City of Loc:`_ ::as called to order by the .:ayor at 8:00
o'clock P.. or 1,ednesday, October 1 , 1940. Councilmen
Pull, C:raffigna, =kiags, '.veihe and Steele ;resent, none
absent.
The minutes of the last meeting held October 2,
19L0 were read, aeproved as read and so endorsed by the
Mayor.
The order of tublic hearinzs was passed to be
taken up later in the meeting.
Con-'mications: The Clerk read a notice of the
quarterly meeting of the Central Valley ision of the
League of California Cities to be held ir. Turlock on
October 23, 1940.
A letter of thanks was received from the rresident
of the Student =ody of the Lodi Union nigh school in
appreciation for the efforts of the City in providing the
Lodi Stadium.
The quarterly report of the City Clerk and of
the ,Jity treasurer :;as received, read and ordered -filed.
At this tine the ::ayor dieected the order of
cublic hearings be taken up and :.:r. i_enneth Lobaugh of the
Recreation Comniesion addressed the Council in regard to the
use of the Paths huildin_g as a Soy's Club. lLr. Lobaugh
stated that it was now proposet that the building be moved
from its present location and used as a community center.
He asked t st the Council authorize the City Engineer to
estimate the cost. Mr. P.:e?lir_+. Drucquer, President of the
Civitan Club expanded Le'. Lobaueh's remarks, stating that t1
proposal had sror;n to such an extent that it had been
endorsed by practically every public body in the City as
well as the Lodi Coordinating Council. He also asked that the
City n ineer be authorized to draw up plans and specifications
or a P. A. project for the remodeling of this building
under the guidance of the Recreation Lr1
omission. Mr. Lobaugh
then stated that he had a source of funds that would assist
the City in financing the cost if the ;ro ject ::as approved.
Earle P. Crandall, chairman of the Lodi Coordinating
Council endorsed the project.
Business license applications No. 1203 to and
incluin- `.o. 1206 were allowed and licenses ordered granted.
The Clerk read the application of Claude Staliairos
for a taxi license and the same was ordered to take its
usual course.
At this time the Clerk read copies of hesolution
:+o. 12, No. 13, No. 14 and No. 1 as adopted by the City
clan ine Oomission on October 14th and he was directed to
publish his notices of hearing in re`ard to the rezoning
of certain lots on 'central •venue North of ='lora Street as
recorw ended in said resolution No. 12 and a notice of hearing
on rezoning of Lots 7 and 8 In clock c of Hutchins high School
Addition as reccr•..ented in said Resolution No. 13. Such hearing
to:ether with the hearing directed in the following paragraph,
to be held beforeCouncil at 8:00 o'clock of
_;oeember 20, 1940.
