HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - September 18, 194021 COUNCIL CHAMBERS - CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - CITY OF LODI i4EDLIE5DAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1940 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was called to order by the Mayor at 8 ofclock P.M. on the date and at the place first above written, Councilmen Graffigna, Weihe and Mayor Steele present, Councilmen Bull and Riggs absent being in attendance at the annual meeting of the League of Cali- fornia Cities in San Diego. City Clerk also absent for the same reason, Effie L. Griffin, Deputy City Clerk acting in his absence. The minutes of the last meeting held September 4, 1940 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. Zr J. F. Ccnklin of the staff of Lodi Union High School addressed the Council in regard to publicising the 5¢ charge added to each admission ticket .8W to defray the City's cost of operation. -r Ezra Ehrhardt of Lodi Votocycle Club thanked the Council for ::Akirg their spring meet a success and exhibited posters showing that the event had given the City national publicity. Ed Deutscher applied by letter for appointment as custodian of the Lodi Stadium. Mrs Charlotte Hepper, Clanger of the Lodi Branch Office of the State Department of Employment, voiced appreciation of the quarters furnished by the City in a letter addressed to the Mayor and Council. The Secretary of Lodi Fire Department advised the Council of certain changes in personnel of the Departmental officers. r L. F. Kidd advised the Council that he had succeeded to the business of the late A. F. Harrison, Public Accountant. Councilman 'leihe stated that Mr R. L. Patton had urged that "Stop Signs" be installed at the intersection of ,lest Oak Street and Hutchins Street to avoid reoccurance of accidents that had lately happened at that intersection. Ordinance No. 269 entitled " AN ORD L"IANC : LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGL%MING JULY Ist, 1941" having been introduced September 4, 1940 was brought up for passage on motion of Councilman Graffigna, 7leihe second, and finally passed and ordered to print by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Graffigna, Weihe and Mayor Steele. ?DOES: Councilmen, None. ANSENT: Councilmen: Bull & Riggs. The payor then signed the Ordinance in approval thereof. A^plications for business licenses Nos 1171,1172 & 1174 were granted. Transportation expense of :Vilma Janninis as authorized by the Recreation Com. -fission was approved at the same rate as for Playground Supervisors. The City Engineer was instructed to prepare an application to''+'T.P.P.: for sidewalk construction and subLt the same to the Council, also, to prepare and submit an application to the same for extension of storm drains now under way. On motion of Councilman neihe, the City Council then adjourned.
