Pursuant co the adjournment recularly taken from
its meeting of kay 18, 1940, the City Council of the City
o_' Lodi met in adjourned regular session at 8:00 o'clock
of 22, 19L0. Councilmen, Bull, Graffigna, 1i,gs,
eihe and Steele _esent, none absent.
?:.r. J. L. Conklin asked that the matter o: the
contract for the use of the stadium by the Lodi Union nigh
School student body be taken up at this time. The contract
was read at length by the Clerk and on motion of Councilman
Vei'r_e, seconded by Councilman cull it was tabled to be
taken un later.
Mr. Kenneth .. Lobaugh of the Recreation Commission
addressed the Co ncil on the desirability of the leasing of
the school ;•rooertf on the southwest corner of California
and Lockeford streets for recreational purwoses and on
motion of :,cuncilman Bull, seconded by Councilman sraffigna,
the City attorney was Instructed to draw up a lease for
submission to the Council.
A letter of thanks was received from the i'orthern
District canporino Committee of the Boy Scouts of America
thanking the Council for the use of Lawrence Park on key 18
and ka7 19, 1940.

ordered laid over until the June meeting.

The : =ayor then approved and signed the ordinance.
In the matter of the removal of weeds and grass from
vacant lots, the -_re Chief was instructed to proceed as
in previous years.
The Council then took up the matter of the awarding
of a pumping unit and on motion of Councilman Rigs, seconded
by Councilnan Bull, it was moved that the award be made to
the John Bean Manufacturing Company, a division of the
Food •=..ac•^inery 'orporation, but the notion lost on a record
vote, Councilmen ,eine and Councilman Bull voting Aye,
Graff i gna, Steele and v',eihe voting no. Mr. J. A. terming
then recommended that the r';mr be purchased from the
Pomona Punt Conpanr recuesting that all bids be rejected and
the purchase be made in the open market so that the bowls
on the existin, tumo in ,he Zilke Tract mitht be enameled
under an ree^ent made with ?+-r. Henning. Resolution No.
1049 rejecting all bids on pumping a^;aratus and deciding
to purchase in the oven_ market was introduced on motion of
Co'znc_'m an -raf=_1.a, seconded by Councilman y+eihe and
passed by the ur_ar^in ous vote of all members of the Council.

A cetition circulated by H. P. 15arbour for
the rezoning of a lot or the Northeast corner of Church
Street and loci Avenue was ordered referred to the Citi
Planning Commission on motion of Councilman uraffiFna,
seconded by Councilirar Vieihe.

Specifications for the rurchase of chlorinating

Plant the same to be returnable on June 5, 1940. -

was ordered approved by the adoption of resolution No. 1050

The Clerk_ was directed to write the Southern
Pacific Cor-rany in regard to the condition of Vest
Lociceford Street and also the main line crossings through
the City.
s.� . J. K. Henning recommended that the use of
water for yards be allowed every day before the hour of
L:CO o'clock F.M. and thereafter be used on the staggered
schedule heretofore enforced. The Council ajreed to this
rule.
On motion of Councilman Vleihe, the ',ouncil
then_ adjourned.
