The city Council of the City of Lodi met in regular session at 8:00
o'clock P.M. on Iednesday, August 16, 1939, Councilmen Clark, Graffigna,
Spooner, lleihe and Steele (L_ayor) present, none absent.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held august 2, 1939 and of the
adjourned meeting therefrom held August 9, 1939 were read, approved as read
and so endorsed by the Mayor.
Mr Ezra Ehrhart of the Lodi L:otorcyele Club applied orally for permission
to use part of Pioneer Park as a motocycle race track during the coming Crape
& wine Festival, which use would entail the removal of several almond trees
on the westerly end of the park property. The Mayor appointed Councilmen
0eihe as a cormittee of one, with full power to act, to consider the advise -
ability of granting the Clubs request.
The application of Henry and Olga Zilke for permission to operate an auto
camp on Lots 9, 109 20 & 21 of the "Zilke Subdivision" was ordered referred to
the petitioners with the direction that they obtain the written consent of
near -by property owners and resubmit their application in accordance with the
provisions of existing ordinances.
Social Service Lfemorandum No. 45 was received from the State Relief
Administration and ordered filed for future consideration.
This being the date to which the hearing of property owners in the
proposed annexation of "Tenth Addition" had been postponed from August 9,
1939 and the matter coming on to be heard, no protests mere received or
presented, but, at the application of the City Clerk, concurred in by the
City Attorney, the hearing was again adjourned to September 6, 1939 in
order that a study right be made of acts of the last Legislature affecting
annexations of territory and election proceedure. This was done on notion
of Councilman Clark seconded by Councilman Weihe.
The Council then entered into discussion of the proposed garbage
ordinance introduced August 2, 1939, Mr E.L.Raynie of 415 East Pine Street
requesting information as to garbage disposal by private conveyance. The
ordinance was ordered laid over until the next meeting so that the Clerk
could consider the changes necessary in his accounting proceedure to take
care of collection of fees.
On Lotion of Councilman Spooner, seconded by Councilmen Weihe, the Chief
of the Fire Department was authorized to purchase fire hose as needed at a
price not to exceed 90d per linear foot.
At 9:45 o'clock P.M. the City Council adjourned on motion of Councilman
Weihe.
