The minutes of the last meeting, held July 5. 1935
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the .:ayor.

:•-ayor Steele stated t_at he had a resolution which he would
introduce later.
A letter was received from the United States
Geological Survey asking that the City post 25 per cent of
its contribution for th.e z1aintenance of the local station.

The call for the annual convention of the League

The quarterly reports of the City Clerk and the
City Trasurer _or the quarter ending June 30, 1939 were
received, read and orderer: filed.

adopted by the 1-mar_imous vote of all members of the City
Council.

Intends to participate in the observance of that anniversary
with arpro riate oroorar- a^d ceremonies on July 5C, and

American s-tercrise offering widespread opportunities for
recreation and entertainment to the neo_le of t._is nation
and this CO=urit7 and further offers unlimited -acilities
for plat; and development of a aes:ocratic sense of sportsman-
ship for youth,
And, because the proposed celebration_ of the
arniversar7 of the a :vent e' this -ame ::ill be in the nature
of a con ur_ity-::ide unyertakino,
CR.T, BE IT ."-,ESCLVED, that the Council of
the City of nodi sitting in regular session, does hereby
heartily en_orse the Flans Outlined by the American Legion
for said celebration and offers for the occasion the
layorounc facilities of the city of Lodi for the Lur:ore
of teino used =or the celebration and further L1ec:ges the
cooceration of its individual members for the success of the
undertakin;;.

of citizens to act -or this board in cooperation .-dtY the
Ar:.eri can Legion to farther facilitate the City's participation
in the Cerate :vial Celebration.
Co.�ncilmar_ Clark addressed the Oour_cil in regard
to the reckless use of racing boats at Lake Park. He was
informed that the Council ::,as unanimous in enforcir_g any
regulations regarding hloh speed on the lake haters.
On the suggestion of Superintendent of Public
-tili ties, J. A. e r_ i rad, the pre sent regulations regarding
days for. irrigation was modified so as to permit _Persons
on both sides of any street to irribate up to the hour of
8:00 o'clock A.','. in the morning, of any day.
Claims Ido. X4561 to and including NO- 54566 in
the a-ount of �. •,237.1; :•:ere allowed and ^rarrznts ordered
drawn on motion of Councilman_ Clark, seconded by Councilman
'aeihe.
i,,.'r. J. r. Henning submitted an estivate that it

would cost about .;2,000. to install sodium vapor lights on
Chero'cee _are.erring also advised the !mv.1e-"*ate
-- acquisition o_' a n ^ping site and the installation of
c,=. '-ng facilities outside the area established by the court
in the case City of Lodi vs. East Bay '.=w* icipal Utility
District.
