C1T L0_1v TUESDAY, AP -HIL 11, 1939 Pursuant to the adjournment tal•.en from the regular-eetinS of the City Council held April 3, 1;39, the City Ccuncil of the City of Lodi met in adjourned reGular session at 7:30 o' clock P.:':. on Tuesday, A_ ril 11, 1539, Council en Clark-, `Oraffigna, Spooner, •-eihe and Steele present, being all the members of the City Council. ?ire Chief, Earl May, then introduced r.,7 r. Loren 3ush of the ='rational Board of Fire Undernriters of the Pacific. 1.1r. 3ush addressed the Council in regard to necessary additions that should be made to the Fire Department and the +ater Leoartr!ent in order to enable the Board of Fire underwriters to establish a lower fire insurance rremiur rate. :e recommended the rurchase of a ladder truck with reserve pLxm_i= equipment as oeing the most necessary adjunct to tie resent system. On motion of Councilman+eihe, seconded by Councilman Spooner and carried it was directed that the necessary steps be taken for the purchase of a quad truck for the Fire -Department; the fire chief to the necessary plans and specifications for submission to the City Council. I -dert submitted a tentative form of policy for liability insurance and the L:ayor ordered the matter to be taken under submission for a study of all the forms of policies noir on file. - =I•r. J. E. Conklin then addressed the Council in regard to the proposed municipal stadium and read from a resolution adopted by the student body of the Lodi Union High Lchcol favoring the construction of such a stadium and stating that the student body believed that they could finance the lighting of it. :sir. Leroy Nichols stated that he ,could consider this to be a binding agreer:ent. I.r. Clinton Henning presented an oral proposition ,. fOr the ilaullri7, Of surplus Sludge from theSewage +'1SpOSal ?lant for the cost to the city of maintaininz a truck. This matter was referred to the City Attorney and City En7ineer for preparation of a contract agreement if such be found necessary. r. Harry Neville Jonks invited the Council to inspect the new seiaage disposal plant in Turlock stating that he believed that the local City Council r.:i:;ht find a solution for the disposal of the surplus sludge from the sestae dis_osal plant but he believed ultimately that a separate di -est -Jon would be necessary. On motion of Councilman Spooner, seconded by Counc_lman Glark, resolution `:o.993 approving and directing that a. -plication be made to tine .t-orks Progress Administratiam for the approval of a project to construct a municipal stadium. :.:etion carried. A letter from the State Railroad Cor -mission in regard to the prowcsed acquis°tion of a small parcel of ground from the lands of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company was referred to the files, it an rearing that the next step in this street widening proceeding would have to core from the Pacific Gas and Electric Co -rang. A com.=_anication frcr~ the City Planning Co^°.mission making five recoru:endations to the City Council was received and read at length by the Clerk. Aldridge for �ermission to construct a d.,;ellin.� az 50j Daisy Avenue was also approved. :.ecc.�� erdation i:o. 5 was also anrroved and it was ordered that the City-ngineer prepare a diagram as the initial step to open a fifty root street from Yore Avenue to the Lodi -San Andreas ighr:ay. rt this time the City Clerk submitted his report o= the election held April 4, 1839 and the same being read the Co.;_ncil Froceeded to canvass the votes cast at this election, declaring the results to be that there v:ere thirty-.wO votes cast in this election of wi:ich seventeen were for anne:.:ation ane fifteen a-ainst annexation.
