This regular meeting of the amity council of the City of Lodi was called to order by the -ayor at 8:00 (ilclock P.1- on cnday, January 16, 1939. Councilmen, Clan:, araffiZna, Spooner, Y•eihe and Steele present, none absent. The minutes of the last meeting held January 3rd were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the ,.ayor. iss i):ary Rathbun repre sent in;; several petitioners asked that the "ity ''ouncil consider ways and means for the City to acquire the old Salem School grounds as a public park and playground. Representatives of the Lodi Kotorcycle Club asked permission to use the unplanted portion of Pioneer Parr for a club rouse and polo grounds. 'No objections were voiced by the City Council. The Clerk read a letter from the Sunerintendent of the oouthern Pacific Con:zany promising to make im-nediate revairs to -est Lockeford Street. :otice of the next meeting of the Central Valley Division of the League of California '*unicipaiities to be held in sustine on January 19, 1939 ;:'as received. The application of H. Ratliff for a magazine solicitor license .:as ordered continued for irvesti�;ation. The Council then considered the adoption of Ordinance No. 219 relating to the licensing of bicycles and the Layor presented a letter he had received from the Safety Cc,...ncil of the local sigh behool asking that more severe inspection features provided before the ordinance be ado_ted. At the order of the :.Ayor the matter of the adoption of the Qrdinance was laid over and the letter referred to the Com-_ittee on Public -ealth and -jaf ety. The application of the Lodi "pion High behool Bard for an appropriation of X300.00 c -as ordered continued until a later date. On motion of Councilran Clark, seconded by Councilman &raffi na payment on the premium on the bond Of Villiam t. Cline as a de_uty sheriff was authorized, it being expected that the amount of the payments would not exceed Z_.�5.00. °i 115 in the amount ofr $6,1a1. 8 in.,luding the arr_o=t authorized by Resolution I?o. 983 were allot^red and warrants ordered drawn on Motion of Cc,zncilrran Graffigna, seconded by Councilan Clark. The Council then adjourned on motion of Councilman ''eihe.
