A letter was read from the San doaauin Offices
of the State :relief Administration asking if a space was
available for a sewing project for about ttifenty-five or
thirty women. The :lerk, stated that he had made some
investi?aticns but had been unable to secure a proper room
and he believed that the matter had been turned over to
the local school authorities.
A letter from $:r. Jason Laughridge, Vice President
of the Tracy Drilling Corporation asking for permission to
meet with the Council in regard to gas distribution in the
City of Lodi was ordered tabled.
The report of the Chief of Police for the month
of September and that of the Foundmaster for the same period
were received, read and ordered filed, likewise that of the
Secretary of the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department.
Ordinance No. 20 entitled "Ali ORDINANCE A::EiiDIN
ORDP;A2:CE NO. 137 OF THE CI^lY OF LODI, CALIFORNIA' 1,as
introduced on motion of Councilmen Clark, seconded by Council-
man Weihe, read at length by the Clerk and laid over for the
statutory period of not less than five days.
At the order of the Council the services of
Ernest St. i.iartin were dispensed with as of October 1, 1938.
Councilman Weihe moved that the services of the
Superintendent of Recreation be discontinued until spring
but the motion failed to obtain a second and was lost.
At the suggestion of the City Engineer, Resolttion
Pio. 973 was introduced and read by the Clerk.
