This regular meetin,,, of the City Cosncil of the
City o; Lodi ,aas called to order by the luayor at 8:00 o'clock
P.M. on the date first above written. Councilman Clark,
Graffi, na, Spooner, Weihe and Steele present, the latter
presiding, ?lone absent.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held
July 18, 1938 and that of the adjourned regular meeting
held July 22, 1938 vaere read, approved as read and so
endorsed by the i•Iayor.
Tr. Charles P7. Jones, Postmaster appeared before
the -.oard in opposition to the change of name proposed on
California Street.
:r. Lazarre Friedberger representing a committee
from the Lodi Business ::en's Association suggested that
flag holders be fixed to the electric lighting standards
in the business district, each holder to have fine flags.
=e stated that the fixtures could be had at a cost of 25¢
each and that they could be installed for an additional
cost of :1.00 each. There are about one hundred standards
and the Lodi business 10en's Association proposed to purchase
the flags, but desired that the City attach the flag
holders on the standards. fir. Friedberger was informed
that action would be taker, further on in the meeting.
Charles Prentice protested aainst the license
tax on taxi cabs, nova five dollars per quarter year, and
recuested that the license be reduced to 510.00 per year.
',ir. T. T. Wauchope invited the Council to be
present at a W.P.A. picnic to be held at Lodi Lake Park
on the evening of August 2, 1938•
The Clerk submitted a numerously signed protest
against the location of fire hydrants on Cherokee Lane
at the intersection of the alley between Walnut and
Lodi Avenue.
A communication was received from the Grane
and 'Bine '_'estival asking cooperation from the City in the
use of the Lodi Park Grounds during the Festival to be
held next September.
The report of the poundmaster for the month
of July and that of the Chief of Police for the sane
period were received, read and ordered filed.
The ^urchase of the distribution properties of
the. ?acific Gas and Electric Cc -pang in the "Acad=7
Addition" =rom the Company was authorized by the adoption
of Resolution bio972, introduced on the motion of
CounciL-aan Graffigna, seconded by Councilman Weihe and
passed and adopted by the following votes:
Ayes: Councilmen, Graff igna, a7eihe, Clark,
Spooner and Steele.

RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lodi
That the 11,a7or be, and he is hereby authorized and
directed to execute the within agreement for the purchase
of certain rroperties of-acific Cas and Electric Company
located in Academy Addition" Lodi, California; the City
Clerk will attest to the execution of this a�:reenent in the
manner provided by law.
RESOIT ED, also, that the sum of TEN THCUS."-,ivD FIVE
UI?DIMM DOLLARS and the further sum of THREE THITTDRED
FIF-TEMI, DCLIA.RS be appropriated from any moneys in the City
Treasury derived from operation of the City's water and
electric distribution systems not otherwise enc=bered, for
the purposes hereof and the total amount thereof viz; the
sum of TEN THOUSAYD EIGHT HUH L RED FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($10,815-00)
be tendered the said Pacific Gas and Electric Company in
payment for the properties troposed to be conveyed to the
City of Loci in accordance with the terms of said agreement,
the said sum of 'TEN T-7H-OUSANDI FIVE HTPKDRED DGLIARS beim for
the purchase of said properties and the said sum of THREE
FUI• RED FIFTEEN DOLLARS being for California ,tate Sales
Tax, on which latter :um, the City reserves the right of
recovery should it be determined that such sales tax should
net be levied and collected.
Mr. Glenn Viest reported orally on the progress of
the proposed camp trailer ordinance, which is being
prepared by the San Joaquin Local Health District as a
count7wide ordinance. He stated that a meeting of the
representatives of interested cities would be held in
Stockton this meek.
On motion of the ?.:ayor, seconded by Councilman
Graffi�na, :resolution No. S71 was introduced, read by
the Clerk and considered by the Council.

CALIFCRP;IA STREET.
TE :AS, much confusion exists ening to the fact
that the name CORLIER STREET is applied to the first street
nest of and parallel to Hutchins Street from Lodi Avenue
to Locust Street and the name CAL FFOIR;IA STR_.ET is applied
to the see street from Locust Street to the City Limits
and extending from said City limits to the Woodbridge Road
outside to City;
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Lodi that said street be named STRE_T" throughout
its entire length froom Lodi Avenue to the northerly city
1i.7_its. `I -,e City Clerk is hereby directed to make and
certify to a copy of this Resolution and file the same with
the County Recorder of San Jcaq::in County.
BE IT FURTHER ESO: -:.,'ED, that Resolution No, 021,
passed and adopted in this City council on July 6, 1�` be
and the same is hereby rescinded and revoked.

The fore-oino Resolution No. G71 was then passed
and adopted by the assenting votes of all nenbers of the
City Council.
Claims No. 32229 to and including No. 323681
with the exception of Igo. 32383 in the amount of X22.00
which was denied because of lack of information, were
allowed and warrants ordered issued in the amount of
$27,719.77 on motion of Councilman. Graffigna, seconded by
Councilman Ydeihe.
Ir. J. S.. Colvin in charge of playground activities
for the Works Progress Ad-�inistration at hale Park, asked
that the Works Progress Administration be allowed to
continue with their programs until the schools would be
taken up in September. On motion of Councilman 'veihe,
seconded by Councilman Spooner, this project was approved
and I -r. Colvin alloried the use of any equipment the City
might have that was suitable for the purposd.
The Lodi i,iotorcycle Club applied for permission
to use the Lodi Softball Grounds for polo games during the
coning Grape and gine Festival. This matter was referred
to the Committee on Streets and Parks by the lrayor.
The Clerk called the Council's attention to the
fact that the auto fleet auto liability and property
damage insurance policy for the City would expire August
23, 1938. No ection was taken as to the award of this
policy.
The wayor announced that he had appointed
W. C. Green to be a member of the City Planning Commission
fOr a term of four years from and after the first day of
Julys 1538.
At the order of the Ka -or, none dissenting,
the Council -then adjourned.
