Friday, July 22, 1938
Pursuant to its adjournment from its regular
meeting of July lb, 19.58, the City Council met in adjourned
regular session at 6:OU o'clock P.M. on the date first above
written, Councilmen Graffigna, Spooner, '±+eche and 6teele
present, Councilman Clark absent, being still out of town.
Mr. J. A. Henning submitted the proposed agreement
and Bill of Sale whereby the racific Gas & Electric ompany
would sell its distribution facilities in the "Academy
Addition" in the City for the sum of §10,500, plus $315
sales tax. Demurrers to the payment of sales tax was voiced
by several members of the Council and the City Attorney and
there being some doubt as to the ability of the State to
collect sales tax on this transaction, the approval of this
contract was laid over until the first meeting in August,
the Council however approving the purchase in principle.
There being several people in attendance including
attornies Henning and Rinn who were interested in the new
camp trailer ordinance, the Mayor stated that his purpose
was to discuss the matter with campground owners only and
that as the San Joaquin Local Health District in cooperation
with other cities in the County was having an uniform
campground ordinance prepared, no discussion of the matter
would be had this evening.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned
at the order of the Ya.yor, none dissenting.
