Monday, July 18, 1938
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was
called to order by the Layor at 8:00 o'clock P.Id. on the date first above
written. Councilmen Graffig:a, Spooner, i11eihe and Steele present, Council-
man Clark absent being out of town.
The minutes of the last meeting held July 5, 1938 were read, _
approved as read and so endorsed by the 2svor. I
No persons appearing at this time the order of public hearings
was passed and the Board proceeded to hear conmunications and reports.
The Clerk read the notice of call of the regular meeting of
the Central Valley Branch of the League of California Uun icipa lities to
be held at t:erced on the evening of the 21st.
A protest was received from August Lippert who conducts a camp
ground on Cherokee Lane on account of a nuisence caused by dog kennels
kept near his place of business. It appearing that this was more of a
private nuisance than a public one, no action was taken.
The Clerk read seven applications for licenses to sell alcoholic
beverages within the 'City as submitted by the State Board of :rualization.
No objections were voiced by the Council.
Applications for business licenses Nos. 9113 to 9116 inclusive
were approved and licenses ordered granted.
The caarterly reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer were
received, read and ordered filed.
Claims No. 32217 to and including No. 32228 in the amount of _
$501.20 as approved by the Finance Committee were allowed on motion of
Councilman Weihe, seconded by Councilran Greffigna.
On motion of Councilman Spooner, seconded by Councilman
Graffigne,1:r. A. F. Harrison was re-employed to audit the city accounts
for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1938 at the price of $450.
At this time attornies Hallinan end Henning presented a
proposed ordinance in substitution of Ordinance No. 244. After discussion
the matter was laid over until an informal meeting be held between
the Council and the campground owners, such meeting to be held following
an adjourned meeting of the Board on July 22, 1938. .
On motion of Councilman Spooner, seconded by Councilman Graff igna
Mr. John A. Henning, Superintendent of Public Utilities was authorized to
purchase a n=w pump for use on the sell in the Zilke Tract.
On motion of Councilman :Xeihe,. seconded by Councilman Graffigna
the Clerk was authorized to make tenders of offers for the acquisition of
right of way on Tokay and Church Streets d:n the s -aunts he had determined
ares acceptable.
Miss Amy L. Boynton submitted the Library Budget for the fiscal
year July 1, 1938. At the order cf the L-Iayor, none dissenting the
Council then adjourned to and until 8:00 o'clock PX. of Friday, 3uly 22,
1938.
