This regular meeting of the City Council vias
held on the date first above written at 8:00 o'clock P.:.
Councilmen, Clark, Graffigna, Spooner, Weihe and Steele
present, none absent.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held
June 6, 1958 were read, approved as read and so endorsed
f by the Mayor.
Mr. Otto Polenske representing a coami.ttee of
the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department recommended the purchase
of a L & J reaus6itator, saying that the Department could
obtain a machine worth X375. for $300.00 by purchasing
a demonstrator. On motion of councilman Spooner, seconded
by Councilman Graffigna, purchase of this apparatus was
authorized.
31r. Marvel Putnam addressed the Council in regard
to assistance and endorsement of the Lodi Band. He was
instructed to make a request for an appropriation to be
considered in the next annual budget.
This being the date set by resolution duly
published for the recept16n of sealed proposals for the
public printing for the year beginning July 1, 19363, proposals
were received from the Lodi Times and Lodi News -Sentinel
and after opening and considering the same, Resolution Pio. 967
was introduced on motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by
Councilman Weihe.

+!iEREAS in accordance with proceedings heretofore
had, proposals for the public printing for the City of Lodi
have been submitted as follows:
That of the Lodi Times: First insertion 28¢ per
column inch, Second insertion 259, Third Insertion 20�,
Fourth Insertion 18¢, Fifth and each subsequent insertion
15¢ per column inch.
fiat of the Lodi News -Sentinel: First insertion
25¢ per column inch and 2L;¢ per column inch for each
subsequent insertion.
3E IT RESOLVED, that the award for the printing
of all matters required by law to be published in a news-
paper of general circulation be and the same is hereby
awarded to THE LODI NL'.+S-SENTINEL at the amounts set forth
in their proposals. This City `'ouncil hereby declares
such prorosal to be the lowest and best bid received.
The foregoing Resolution No. 967 was then passed
and adopted by the following vote:

'WHEREAS Warrant No. 19742, dated April 3, 1933
Payable to narold Anshutz in the amount of z�1.50 has not
been presented for zaynent, and,
V'i'r_ERcAS, ;.-arrant No. 29012, dated March 3, 1937
payable to Austin Brothers in the amount of X1.45 has not
been presented for payment, therefore,
BE IT RESCLYM, that these warrants be and they
are hereby, cancelled. The 1,ity I'lerk will take credit
therefor for his accounts.
The foregoing Resolution No. 966 was then passed
and adopted by the following vote:

A communication was received from the c3ecretary
of the Lodi Volunteer vire Derartment announcing the results
of a recent election in that department and on motion of j
Councilman Graffi;na, seconded by Councilman V-eihe,
Resolution Pio. 968 was introduced.

location of the business proposed being in a dwelling zone.

A petition signed by all the residents in the
400 blocks of Oak Street and YJainut Street asking that
the use of vacant lots along Hutchins Street be restricted
to the uses contemplated by the zoning ordinance. It was
received, read and ordered filed, for future reference.

to construct a trailer carp at X25 Vine 6treet, also M. J.
Seeley applied by letter for permission to have a trailer
cam_ on the Old Lockeford Road, zast of Cherokee Lane. No
Action taken on either application. -
Ordinance lio. 244 entitled "ORDINANCE REGULA':ING
THE SANITATIO'N' A -',-,D C01;.,DUGs OF CFik°,_P CARS AND/OR TRAILERS IN
TF.E CITY OF LC -7'T, CALIrF RNIA" Has introduced on notion of
Councilman Graff ie-na, seconded by Councilman Clark and by
the same motion ordered laid over fon the statutory period
of not less than five days.
Claims in the amount of X755.71 as passed by
the Finance Cormittee were allowed and warrants ordered
issued on motion of Councilman zpooner, seconded by
Councilman Graff igna.
The Clerk was directed to forward to the
Superintendent of the "outhern Pacit'ic a notice of the
rough and dangerous condition on their various main line
crossings throughout the City.
The Council consiaered the recommendations of the
City Planning Llommission that Lockeford Street bb made a
boulevard or through street and the Clerk was directed to
have the City Attorney prepare the proper resolution or
ordinance, also to make an estimate of t1+e cost of the stop
signs for the various intersections on this street.
On motion of Councilman Spooner, seconded by
Co,tumcilman Graf f igna, the City Engineer was instructed to
install a foot passenger cross-over between the curb and
the street surface on Central -venue Forth of zln atreet.
Ieir. John X. Henning reportea that there were
sixty --three places in the City where street li,hts might be
installed at intersections: He reco_~s ended that the first
installations be made by the Uity on electric poles now
standing. Mr. yenning estimated the total cost of installing
these sixty-three intersection lights at X4,000.
At the order of the Aayor, none dissenting the
City Council Adjourned.
