Councilmen Clark, Graffigna, Spooner, weihe and 1Dteele, present, hone absent. The minutes of the last meeting held December 20, 10.37 were read, approved as read and so indorsed by the l::ayor. Eo persons appearing at this time the order of Public hearinEs was passed and the Council proceeded to hear communications and reports. A letter from the Penn Lining Company cancelling an option agreement for flowage rights and purchase of lands in Calaveras County was ordered filed. A bulletin from the Lea;;ue of California i:unicipalities in regard to the legal book making establishments was also ordered filed. The Clerk read memoranda from the State Board of Ecualizatior_ stating that H. Bitzer at 22 Eorth Cherokee Lane and K. ':itta at 34 I orth I:-ain Street had applied to that Board for on sale beer and wine licenses. One application for a business license, that of Villiam J. Eennings, was allo-c:ed on motion of Courcilir.an Gr"affigna, seconded by CounciL^.:an 5pconer and carried. _ The report of the 'chief of olice for the n._onth I of December and that of the Foundmaster for the same month j -.-,-ere received, read and ordered filed. Also, the report of the Secretary of the �Tolunte.er Fire ✓epartment covering the quarter ending December 31, 1g37 was received and ordered filed.
