This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was called
to order by the Mayor at 3:C0 o'clock P.M. of ;Iednesday, December 19, 1945,
Councilmen 'f.J.Coffield, W.E.Riggs, H.J.Tolliver, Otto K.'.'feihe and Robert H.
P.inn,(L=ayor), present, none absent.

ed therefrom held December 7 and the Special Meeting of December 11,1945 were
read, approved as read and so endorsed by the M,�Lyor.
FUELIC HaARINGS -
A.J.Randolph, Co mander of Lodi Post No.22,American Legion
and Archie Closson of the Post's Building Committee present-
ed a request that the City sell to the Post a plot of land
ai.proximately 2CO feet on Nashington Street by 150 feet in
depth from Lawrence Park on which the applicant proposes to
erect a Legion Memorial Home, and, if this request was favor -
Proposed Sale ably considered, that the City fix a price for this land.
Ptn Lawrence Mayor Rinn stated that in conference with other members of
Park to Lodi the City Council, a tentative price of 45 000 had been fixed

Legion It was then moved by Councilman Tolliver, Coffield second,that
the City offer to sell to Lodi Post No 22, American Legion,
such portion of Lots 6,7,3,9 and 10 in Block 7,Lawrence Home-
stead Addition, Map No. 2 as would make a plot approximately
200 feet in width and 150 feet in depth for the sum of $5 COO,
subject to the condition, that, should the Legion ever cease
to use this land for a 'Aemorial Home, the City would have the
right to purchase at the same price a bonafide responsible
purchaser night offer. Motion carried unanimously.

San Joaquin County Safety Council gave notice of its intended
annual meeting, setting no date therefore but urging represen-

a franchise. Mayor Kinn su,gested that Maha-fey secure copies
of bus franchise ordinances where the same had been granted
in other Cities and submit them to the City Attorney. The
City Clerk was instructed to secure such information from
the League of California Cities as might be in their files.

On submission of a satisfactory performance report and with the
recd=—endation of City Engineer Henning, Clarence C. Elder, probationary park
caretaker was confirmed as a permanent employee in accordance with the rules of
the perso:.^el ordinance.
Annual Report The annual Report of the City Building Inspector was presented

member of the City Council.

In the matter of the proposed rezoning to Commercial District Zone
of that part of B]Lock 10, krokelamne now zoned as Residential, the
Clerk read the Report of the City Planning Cobmission setting forth

that, after due notice, a public hearing had been had at which no

objections to the proposed rezoning had been presented and that the

duly made, seconded and carried, the Clerk was directed to publish
a notice that the City Council would hold a public hearing in this
matter at the time, place and hour of its next regular meeting,i.e.
in the City Council Chamber, beginning at 8:00 o'clock P.M. of
Wednesday, January 2, 1946
The City Pla uing Commission also transmitted the application of

Lots 13 and 14, Lodi Barnhart Tract,(415 So.Cherokee Lane) as the
site for an automobile repair garage with the recommendation that
a use permit be granted subject to certain restrictions. It was

City Engineer Henning reported that the owners of the premises

building.
The above application brought up a general discussion of the nec-
e.sity for action by the Council to secure rehabilitation of the
Northerly ten lots in Block 28,Mokelumne (Japto;Am) and the City
Japtown.
Clerk was instructed to mail notices to eight owners that a meet-
ing of the City Council would be held in t#e City Council Chambers
begi.Lning at 7:30 o'clock P.M. of Tuesday, January 82 1945 at
which plans for rebuilding the old and decayed structures on these
lots would be considered
