HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - December 26, 1946 SM114 CJU'iCIL CHAM2ERS CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - CITY Or LODI THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26, 1946 A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi, called by the Mayor in accordance with paragraph 2 of Section 858 of the Municipal Corporations Act, was held in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Lodi, California beginning at 7:30 o'clock P.M. of Thursday, December 26, 1946, Councilmen Haskell, Lytle, Riggs, Tolliver and Rinn present, each and every Councilman having signed a waiver of notice and consent to this meeting prior to entering the Council Chambers. The purpose of this meeting, as stated in the call and in the waiver of notice, to be the appointing of a Chief of Police to succeed Clarence 5. Jackson, resigned. At the direction of the Mayor, the City Clerk read applications for appointment to the vacancy from the following: (1) Millard L. Fore Lodi (2) Andrew B. Hasten Stockton (3) George A. Lallement Oakland (4) Ralph C. Coon Lodi (5) Ailliam M. Long Stockton Consideration was then given to each application, Mr Hasten and Mr Lallement addressing the Council in suppott of their applications. A written ballot was then had with the result that Mi11Ard L. Fore received four (4) votes and George A. Lallement One (1) vote. She Mayor then declared that Mr Fore had been appointed Chief of Police, such appointment to be effective at the time Mr Jackson's resignation takes effect. After discussion of the salary to be paid, it was moved by Council- man Tolliver, Lytle second, that Mr Fore's salary be the same as that now paid the retiring•Chief of Police,•i.e. $400.00 monthly. Motion carried, Councilman Haskell voting "No". The purpose of this meeting being accomplished, adjournment was had at 8:30 P.M. on motion of Councilman Riggs, Att'e'3LF ' F. BLAKELY, City Cl All Councilmen remained in the Council Chambers after the adjourn- ment taken above to discuss the opening of a county road from State Highway 4 ( Cherokee' Lane ) to land under option east of the Central California Traction Line for a city dumping ground with Supervisor Ellery G. Stuckenbruck, Supervisor from the 4th district of San Joaquin County. It was agreed that the County should obtain and improve the right of way and that the City would allow San Joaquin County residents in the north part of the County to use these grounds without charge.
