Also attending City Engineer Henning, Fire Chief :ofenske and Chief of Police Jackson. The minutes of the last meeting held October 9th were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. CO_yiUNICATI0IS, NOTICES & REPORTS — S.B.E. NOTICE Notice of the application of G & M Takeuchi for an "on sale" beer OF APPLICATION and wine license at 30 N. Main Street was received from the State FOR LICENSE Board of Equalization. No objections offered. A petition signed by seven residents on Laurel Avenue North, of LAUREL AVE Woodbridge Road requesting that the City order curbs and gutters PETITION on this street was referred to the City Clerk and City Engineer C & G to obtain estimates of cost, inforT a1 proposals for the work and the preparation of necessary commitments to pay the cost. Charles F. Flare and wife requested that Eureka Avenue in " Mare Subdivision " be opened for traffic from Lincoln to California Street. City Engineer Henning stated that the attorney for the ;ARE SUBDIV owner of the land at the west end of this street was endeavoring C?ENING OF to prepare a statement acceptable to his client for submission EUREKA AVE. to the City Council. It was directed that the City grade and oil the uncontested part of this street, the subdivider to pay the cost of removing vines and trees in the right of -way, Three petitions requesting that First Street, Olive Court and Lincoln Avenue in " Koontz Subdivision " be graded and oiled were read. It appearing that these streets became public streets STREETS IN on the approval of the official map of this subdivision, it was KCONTZ SUB. ordered that they be graded and oiled with temporary surfacing after the subdividers had removed vines, trees and other obstruct— ions. Ralph J. Doty submitted an offer of $500.00 for the purchase of OFFER OF a City owned lot on East Elm Street 190.96 feet from the center DOTY of Cherokee Lane, 24 feet pride and 170 feet deep acquired from D. H. Buell January 31, 1911. Offer ordered to stand submitted pending receipt of other proposals. On the report of Park Caretaker C. C. Elder that a large oak T?.E AT LATE tree at Lake Park was rotted at the base and dangerous, the City Engineer was directed to make tests as to this trees condition. Councilman Lytle was delegated to attend the next meeting of Lodi Coordinating Council to be held October 24th as representing the City Council. On motion of Councilman Haskell, the Mayor was authorized to S.P.:1ATER execute an agreement with Southern Pacific Company for five pipe ZING line crossings along the south side of Woodbridge Road and extend— S.J.SThERY ing across that Company's main line right of way , Shewan—.Jones Company to pay the cost of this permit. ALLEY IN BLOCK 7 M—Y TRACT The City Engineer reported that it would be practically impossible to maintain the alley in Block 7, Morar.—Handel Tract if it were repaired in the standard manner because of the heavy hauling to industrial plants abutting thereon. He submitted an estimate of Z1 345.62 exclusive of.incidentals for proper construction and drainage. Mr Henning was iestructed to ascertain the difference between standard alley improvement costs and the higher standard contemplated and submit his estimate of this difference to the heavy truck users of this alley with the request that they finance the additional cost. As the above introduced ordinance provides for the regulation of street parking, either at an angle or parallel to the curb, it was discussed at length. The City Clerk was directed to prepare and sutmit a resolution conforming to the provisions of this dNGULAF. & ordinance making School Street and the east side of Sacramento PARATTEL Street as well as Main Street subject to parallel parking and P-RKING for the time being, leaving other streets in the area bounded by Lodi Avenue, Fleasant Avenue, Iockeford Street and 77ashington Street together with South Central Avenue from Lodi Avenue to East Vine Street, areas in which diagonal or angular parking will be permitted. Chief of Police Jackson, to whom the matter had been referred, TAXI ST -ND stated that he could see no reason for continuing the " taxi " 71.PIRE ST still maintained on lest Pine Street next to School Street. It was directed that the manner of securing discontinuance of this reservation be inve�sigated. Chief Jackson also stated that the Lodi 20-30 Club had secured some safety mannekins, generally called =' Safety Sallies" and desired that they be placed in school crossing intersectior_s. "ayor Rinn urged that all persons participate in the effort of SCRAP METAL National Manufacturers to secure scrap metal for industrj and requested that the local papers give this matter publicity. Business License kpplications presented October 2nd and a--;pro-red BUSINESS by the Chief of Police were ordered granted and applications LIC2ISrS filed since that date were ordered referred to the Police Chief for investigation and re -port. At 11:33 ?-K- the Council was resolved into executive session and the room cleared returning to open meeting at 12:37 A.S. and adjournment was had at 12:57 A.M. of Thursday, Cctober 17, 1946 on motion of CouncilmanRiggs, to 8:00 P.M. of October 23,1946.
