This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi :was called to
order by the Vayor at 9:00 r of Yednesdays August 71 1946, Councilmen Hassell,
Lytle, Rigs, Tolliver and Rinn (1-Tayor) present, none absent. lso attending,
City Attorney ':lest, City Engineer Henning, Superintendent of Utilities K-Allelea,
Chief of the Fire Department Polenske and Chief of Police Jackson.
Minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held July 31, 1546 were read,
approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
PUBLIC i-Z'ARINGS -
Archie if. Closson, bn behalf of Lodi Grape & dire Festival Assoc-
Aation requested:
LCDI GRAPE & (1) That the City Council waive the 50 tax on exhibitions in Lodi
iZl FESTIVAL Stadium for performances, other than motorcycle races, held by
PEI ESTS this Association.
GPPNTED. (2) That the City, at its own expense, install certain lighting
facilities required by the Festival in the Stadium and in the
Exhibition Tent.
(3) That the City pay $1250.00 of the costs of advertising this
years Festival from its publicity funds.
On motion of Councilman Riggs, Tolliver second, 11r Closson's
three requests were ordered granted.
This being the time and place set for the opening of sealed bids
on street and alley repairs under specifications adopted July 24,
BIDS ON STRDET 1946, due publication of notice was proven by affidavit filed with

to publicly open and canvass the bids received: all proposals
being on the ten units of the call for bids'in res-ular form, in

ALVETI R. V. Alveti submitted his written resignation as Police Patrolman

that Lawrence Hall, second on the existing eligible list be: apoint-
ed to this vacancy as Vaughn Buckma.ster, first on this list is

Jackson also requested appointment of six special officers to

REPORTS. for the month of July were received, read and ordered filed. City
Engineer Henning reported on the activities of that office for
