TUTC Y .uEE Ii,G ROLL Lr MINUTES OF X13 CANVASS C E-:CT=Civi RETURNS COU1CIL CHAMSEi3 CITY COU1CIL CITY HALL - CITY OF LODI T'_ESD,;Y, APRIL 16, 1946 In .3cccrdance with Section 9913 of the '_'icipal Corporations Act, the City Council of the City of Lodi feet at 8:CC o'clock P.M. of Tuesday, April 16, 1946 to canvass the returns of the General Municipal Election held in this City on the 9th day of April, 1946, to count the absentee ballots cast thereat and to install the newly elected City Councilmen. Councilmen Coffield, Riggs, Tolliver, :ieihe and Rirn (Mayor) present, none absent. Minutes of the last Council meeting held April 3, 19L6 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. The report of the Cit;.r Clerk on the election of April 9th, accompanied by the returns of election from the six several precincts together with the absentee ballots cast were then presented to the Council. Mayor Rinn appointed Councilmen Weihe and Coffield as tellers to count the absentee ballots and these ballots and the precinct returns were canvassed publicly with the results fount in the following resolution: RESOLUTICN NO. 12.58 RESOLUTION DECLARING EESULT OF ELECTION. ::HSR,x.;3, a General ':unicip al Election was held and conducted in the City of Lodi on Tuesday the 9th day of April, 1946 as is required by law, and, :.d:E.;S, it appears from the report of the City Clerk and the records en file in his office, that notice of said election was duly and legally given; that voting precincts were properly established and the .o -ling places thereof designated, that election officers were appointed and qualified; that election supplies including official ballots were furnished each of said precincts end, that, in all respects, said election was held and conducted and the votes cast threat received and canvassed and the returns thereof :wade, determined and declared in time, fora and canner as required by the la:is of this state provid- ing for and regulating municipal elections in sixth clasalities, and, W-LREAS, this City Council of the City of Lodi meeting at the Council Chambers t sreof en this Tuesday, the 16th day of April, 1946, to canvass the returns of said election, count the absentee ballots and,to install the newly elected officers, finds as a result of said canvass and count that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which said election was held and all other matters required by law to be as hereinafter staked; now therefore, IT I3 HEREBY . CUND, : ET �dli..E AND DECLARED: (1) That said^ election was held and conducted in the City of Lodi, California on the 9th day of April 1946 in the time, form and manner required by law; (2) That there were six voting precincts established in said City for the purpose of holding said election, as follows: CCi:3CLID TED VOTING FRECINCT A, comprising San Joaquin County precincts 1, 2, 3 and 23 as established for holding state and county elections. CCNSC A.E0 7CTING PRECINCT 3, comprising San Joaquin County precincts 4,5,6 and 22 as established for holding state and county elections. CONSOLIDATED VOTING i RECI CT C, comprising San Joaquin County precincts 7,S,9 and 18 as established for holding state and county elections. CON3CLE TED VOTING PRECINCT D, comprising San Joaquin County precincts 10,11,13 & 19 as established for holding state and county elections. CONSOLIDATED VOTING PRECINCT E,conprising San Joacuin County precincts 12,14 and 15 as established for holding state and county elections. CONSOLIDATED VCTING PRECINCT C, comprising San Joacuin County precincts 16,17,20 zr 21 a., established for holding state and county elections. Cn adjoumaent of the former City Council as above set forth, Lir ;reilhe ar-d Dr Coffield left the meeting after congratulating their successors and the City Clerk ceded the Council to order, administering the statutory oath of office to each of the Councilmen elect and calling for nominations for the office of Layor. Councilman '.i.-gs, seconded by Councilman Rinn placed the name of Cour_cilman Lytle before the Council. Councilman Lytle declined the nomin- ot'-on and offered the name of Councilman Riau to succeed himself as Uaycr, C,unciLm n Yo'_live^ seconded this motion urging Kr Ri= to continue in cff_ce. lir RLrz, -15c declined the nomination and CounciL.an Haskell nomin- ated Cour: ;ilman Tolliver, which nomination was seconded by Councilman Lytle.
