HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - August 27, 1947190 COUNCIL CHAMBM CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - CITY OF LODI .MNESDAY, AUGUST 27,1947 As adjourned `'rom its meeting of August 25th, the City Council of the City of Lodi met in adjourned regular session at S:AO o'clock Y.M, of ;led- nesday, August 27, 1947, Councilmen Haskell, Lytle, Ril:gs, Rinn and Tolliver present, none absent. The minutes of the last meeting held August 25th were approved after insertion of two corrections now shown by insertions in red ink therein and as suggested by the City Attorney in order to make it certain that the City had not as yet been restrained and that the stipulation authorized would also include an agreement that the City would not use the Fredrickson and Natson land for garbage disposal until the order to show cause had been disposed of. Due publication of notice being proven, the Council proceeded to open sealed bids received for painting the Stadium, R. 4. A",'An OF Reade and Company offering to apply paint at $11.00 per gal- STADILN !on or a total price of $ 3,S50.00. George Bruce bid at $7.65 PAL'7TIFG per gallon, a total bid of $2 677.50. A::ard made to George FES 1356 Bruce by the adoption of Resolution No. 1356 introduced by Councilman Lytle, Haskell second and passed by unanimous vote. This also being the time and place for the reception of bids for street grading and surface treating, due publication of ','ARD OF notice was proven and bids opened as follows: STREEST ;IORK E.F.Hilliard, 1355 43rd St.,Sacramento.......... $ 6 323.00 TO 3,F.HILLIARDGordon L. Capps, ;+"eber & D Sts, Stockton........ 10 095.00 FES- 1357 Claude C. flood Co., P -0 -Box 599, Lodi........... 11 695.00 The above bids were referred to Street Superintendent Bruner and City Engineer Henning who reported, after examination, that award should be made to the lowest bidder. Award was so made by the adoption of Resolution No. 1357 passed without dissenting vote. R:sclution No. 1352 adopted August 6th containing a notice that a public hearing way-ld be had at this time and place for the hearing of objections of the owners of real property in proposed Fourteenth Addition, due publidation of this PF.OTzSTS resolution was proven by affidavit and the Mayor invited AGAINST statements from objectors su..porting the purported eighty- A':X7ATION OF three written objections filed with the City Clerk prior to FOURTF2ITH the hour set for hearing. Grover C. Irey, Hugh A. Dow and ADDITION. Melber F. Ayers accepted the Mayor's invitation, stressing their contention that they would eventually be willing to come in to the City but deemed this an unoppsrtune time. At the direction of the Mayor, all written protests were referred to the City Clerk for checking and for the ascertain- nent of the exact number of separate parcels of land in the territory proposed for annexation. Notice of the annual conference of the Pacific Coast Building Officers Conference at E1 Tovar Hotel, Grand Canyon Arizona on October 21 to 24 was read. A contract rith R. J.
