WEDNESDAY, YAY 28, 1947
Pursuant to the adjournment taken from its regular meeting of
Hay 21st the City Council of the Cita of Lodi met in adjourned regu-
lar session at 3:15 P. Y. of -Wednesday, May 28, 1947.
Councilmen Haskell, Lytle, Riggs, Tolliver and Rini, Present,
none absent.
The minutes of the last meeting held ':ay 21st were read, ap-
proved as read and so endorsed by the '_`ayor.
Hr. A. 0. Pauly, representing the Motor Boat Owners Association
invited the Council to attend the Clubs dedication of its new docks
on May 30th.
Mr. Robert Y. Searls, formerly special counsel for
the City in the East Bay :.:unicipal Utility District
and Pacific Gas & Electric suits, relatinE to the
City's water rights on the Mokeluone River but now
representing Gold Hill Dredging Company addressed
GOLD HILL the Council in regard to that companys operations
DREDGING on the river above Clements assuring the Council
COMPANY that gold dredging at this location was not harmful
to the percolation of water to the stratas from
which the Cit;:,receives its supply. ',_r. Searls filed
a written statement of the proposed dred_ing to -ex-
tend over a period of not more than four years and
entailing but three crossings of the river during
this time, such crossings to be in the winter when
stream flow is at its greatest and the waters not
used for irrigation or flowing into Lodi Lake Park
at the time the latter is in operation.
This being the date set for the hearing of objections
to the annexation of a tract of land east of Cherokee
Lane and South of "Krieger Addition" nailed ":Talnut-

CPD. NC. 349 _:r. E. V. Hill, owner of part of this property, made

the operation of a walnut huller on the rear of his
land could be continued after anne:_ation. No others
appearing, it was ordered on motion duly made, second-
ed and carried, that ORDINANCE P.O. 349, entitled, "AN
ORDINANCE :;P-EOvi G THE A=ATION OF VEAL NUT-ORCH ARD
ADDITION' TO THE CITY OF LOJI, CALIFORNIA" be introduced
and laid over until the next meeting.

The application of L. A. & R. M. Pimentel for an "off
S.B.E. sale" liquor license at 844 3o. Central ;,venue was
LI::UCP. passed without protest after receiving the favorable
report thereon of Chief of Police Fore.
Supt. of Streets, W. L. Bruner submitted the applica-
tion of A. Maggio for permission to install a gasoline
'.'AGGIO storage tank in the sidewalk space on the east side of
GAS North Stockton Street near Pine Street, such tank to
TANK be installed in accordance with Board of Fire Under-
writers regulations at such location as might be ap-
proved by the Street Supt.

REPAIR
Supt. of Streets, Bruner's program for street improve-
ments was ordered laid over for future consideration,
conies of his estimates having been furnished each
Councilman.
SALE Sale of 3100,000.00 Treasury notes due February 9, 1948

Transfer of $20,000.00 from "In Lieu Tax Fund" to General
Fund to make this amount available for purchase of a

At this time, Messrs. Polenske and French members of a
committee from Lodi City Employees association on salaries

various'departments submit written racommendat ions to
the Council for consideration before fixing, a new wage
scale.
The City Clerk was directez to present to the Council
':AR TIME all ordinances and resolutions adopted as war time
PERK KEL emergency measures which lessened requirements of the
P.tiL?S. original personnel rules relating to age at entrance
to City Service azd as to physical requirements.
To fill the vacancy caused by the resignation. of J.
E'FL L. Davis, City Treasurer, Effie L. Griffin, Chief Deputy
GRIFFIN in the City Clercs office was appointed City Treasurer

of the City Counc iI
As most places of business in the City would be closed
on the Saturday following Memorial Day, it was ordered
MAY 31st that all employees who could be spared, be allowed this
CFF half day off with pay, employees remaining on duty to
receive time off at such time as would be convenient to
the various departments in which they are employed.
At 11:40 P. U. the City Council adjourned on motion of
Councilman Riggs.
