M. of Wednesday, May 21, 1947, Councilmen Haskel'_, Lytle, Riggs, Tolliver and ?.inn O ayor) present, none absent. Also attending, City Attorney Glenn West, City Engineer Clinton Henning, Fire Chief George D. Polenske, Chief of Police Millard L. Fore, Buildinr Inspector Arthur C. :?eckenlaible and Director of Recreation Pauly. The minutes of the last meeting held Lay 14th were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. PUBLIC Director of Recreation A. 0. Pauly orally requested to purchase six metal boats from Fuller & Sons for PlULY BOATS 6600.00. Reauest granted motion of Councilmen Riggs, CHIC STAND Haskell second. 'dr. Pauly asked that the enlarged SZUIPT.ENT checking stand at Lake Pari: be equipped with a basket PLAYGROUND system and at a cost of about ;300.00 also, that play- E;l•IPi T ground equipment to cost about 6542.00 for each loca- tion be purchased for use on the east side of Lake Par:: and the east side of Lawrence Park. Requests ordered to stand submitted pending actual statements of costs. ,.t this time Asst. City Engineer Heckenlaible submitted plans for an enlarged checking booth at Lake Park. These plans were then ap;-.roved by the adoption of Resolution No. 1322 introduced by Councilman Haskell, NEW Riggs second and carried without dissenting vote. CHECK STAND Informal bids for construction of this station were BUILDING submitted by two contractors, Otto Rister at $999.00 and Maurice Christopherson $980.00. On motion of Councilman Haskell, second and carried Christopherson was employed to construct this building in accordance with :.is proposal. On motion of Councilman Haskell, Lytle second and carried, the charge for swimming at Lake Park, begin- ning June 1, 1947wasset at 250 for persons of 12 ;rears of age and over and 10¢, as now charged, for child- ren under this age. Pauly, Director of Recreation by the sura of -6500.00 to meet the allocations of 6250.00 each from Lodi School District and Lodi Union High School Dist- rict. Both above letters ordered laid over for con- sideration May 28, 1947. Chief of Folice Fore recommended purchase of a "Harley Davidson" tricycles for use in checking automobile park- ing. L. Bruner subreitted a list of authorized and unauthorized "Loading Zones" now marked W -DING on down town streets. It rras directed that a resolu- ZCi-d tion be prepared for sub;aission setting forth spaces to be allocated for loading and unloading zones in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 295. ds. The City Clerk was directed to notify Otto T. L;avor Kinn then read a letter from Lodi District Chamber of Commerce claiming that the District Engineer, Dis- trict X, Division of Highways had told a joint meeting of the Chamber with Stockton Chamber of Commerce that the City of Lodi had no formal request for Cherokee Lane traffic signals before his office and that on rec- CLE,Pcim cipt of a commitment by the City of Lodi that it would & build the Highway 24 by-pass to Pine Street, he would ME recommend to his Sacramento office that signals be in - TRAFFIC stalled. It was directed that the Cha -tuber of Commerce 310MAIS be given a statement showing the times when the City had made applications for these signals and call attention among other applications, the City's latest contribution was the sura of x300.00 in this years highway budget to be expended by the State in making a definite recommenda- tion. City Engineer Henning reported that the Division of Highways was now makinL its investigation.
