This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was called
to order by the Mayor at 8:00 P.I. of i7ednesday, January' 15, 1947, Councilmen.
Haskell, Lytle, Rigs, Tolliver and Rinn present, None absent.
Also attending, City Engineer Henning, Chief of Police Fore, Fire Chief _
°olenske and Superintendent of Utilities Killelea. City Attorney Test excused
on account of illness in his family.

This being the time, place and hour set for opening of bids
on 100 HP pumping units, publication of notice was proven by affidavit and
the Clerk reported that no proposals had been received by him. This being
the second attempt to secure bids on these units without result, it was
moved by Councilman Lytle, Riggs second, that the Citi purchase these units,
or so many of than as available within a reasonable time by negotiation with
manufacturers,' the City Engineer to obtain prices, delivery dates and other
pertinate data for submission to the Council as present equipment is highly
overtaxed and actually deficient in capacity.
3:r Clifford Gatzert, representing Lodi Safety Council, presented
an outline of his proposal for the handling of traffic on Cherokee Lane within
the City Limits. !L Gatzert's plan ca is for the channelization of traffic
on the 1001 right of way, in sore measure giving the effect had by the four
lane highway entering and leaving the City with several safety features to
protect traffic entering or leaving the highway from intersecting streets.
The City Council requested Mr Gatzert to secure endorsement of this plan by
the Safety Council and discuss it with the District Office of the Division
of Highways as to the proper method of financing his proposal.

Roy P.eimche, Rt 2 Box 140-0 applied to the Council by letter
ROY REI.M'CHE for permission to connect to the City sewer line in Kettle-
SE;ER Cuh'N. man Lane. His property being outside the City, it was ordered i
DENIM that permission be witheld pending vigorous action of prop- f
erty owners in this vicinity toward annexation to the City.
On the recomaendation of the Chief of Police, the certificate
ALVIN T.:3C.L'N- of the °ersonnel Clerk and on motion of Councilman Lytle,
ABEL PRC6UOT- Tolliver second, Police Patrolman Alvin T. Schnabel was

A certificate of completion was presented by the City Engineer
CGIFIETION in the matter of the trench and pipe laying contract awarded
OF FEBST?.R J. L. Webster by Resolution No. 1289 adopted November 21,1946.
COIITR<.CT It was directed that City Attorney .'lest prepare and file the
1289 necessary " Notice of Completion "
Eric M. 'llootk, successor in interest to Jacob Knoll in the
LEASE OF ownership of four acres of vineyard adjoining the City's
CAPE LAND eighty foot strip in Lot 16, Live Oak Colony No. 1 having
TO !COCK applied for the privilidge of renting the City's lard, the
price of $300.00 for the crop year 1947 plus $50.00 water
charge was set.
The matter of the appointment of a City Plumbing Inspector
D'JTsclrc r under the provisions of Ordinance Ko. 331 was then discussed.
PLUUBIIhG Oa motion of Councilman Tolliver, Lytle second, Albert L.
INSPECTOR Dutschke was appointed to this position, appointment effective
February 1, 1947.
A letter withdrawing his name form the list of applicants for
appointment as Superintendent of Streets and Parks was read
BRUNE,R signed by Theodore Voss. Elmer dimer filed his written
SUPT STS application for appointment to this position. On motion of
& PARKS Councilman Haskell, Lytle second, Mr William L. Bruner was
appointed Superintendent of Streets and Parks, a position.

Two applications for business licenses were received and read,
BUSINESS then ordered to the Chief of Police for recommendation. All
LICENSES license applications received January 8th, having been approved
by the Chief of Police, were ordered granted
The Clerk was directed to advertise in one or more publicat-
ions for a -plications for appointment as Chief Sewage Plant
Operator, a position unfilled since the death of F. If. Post

Mayor Rinn addressed the Council on the subject of Subdivision
Regulations, stating that the present uncertain policy of
the Council should be succeeded by definite rules and regul-
SL'BDIVISIONS ations which would relieve the City of many expenses that
resulted in profit to subdividers and should be bourne by
them and would further result in better subdivisions than
those lately approved. The Clerk was directed to secure
copies of acts adopted in other cities to be used as a guide
in preparing a subdivision ordinance.
On motion of Councilman Riggs, adjournment was had at 10:54
P.M. to 8:00 P.M. of '*dnesday, Jangary 22, 1947

Pursuant to the adjournment taken from the regular meeting
of the City Council held January 15, 191:7, I appeared at the
City Council Chambers at 7:50 P -M. and remained there until
3:05 P.M. No persons appearing and no Councilmen being present,
I adjouz-ned this meeting and all matters due to be hear3 thereat
to 8:CO o'clock P..:. of Wednesday, Januar 29, 1947.

Having previously consulted with the Mayor, I was advised
that no meeting mould be held on this date, all matters due to
cane before the City Council would be subject of the regular
meeting to be held February 5, 1947• Therefore no meeting was
held.
