M. of Wednesday, July 149 1948, Councilmen Bull, Lytle, Tolliver, and Rinn present, Councilman Haskell absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of July 7 and of the Special meeting were read and approved as written after correction of a clerical error in the minutes of July 9 wherein the price stated tobe paictyH. L. Anderson was $6,500.00 instead of the actual amount of $15,000.00 less $250.00 collected by the city on the Paradela lease. W. H. Thompson, President of the Board of Trustees of Lodi Public Library, A. W. Marquardt, member of the Board and Amy L. Boynton, Librarian presented the annual report of that department furnishing copies to each Councilman and the City Manager. Resolution No, 1429, authorizing the purchase of 50 acres RESOLUTION of land in the NE4 of Sect. 19, T3N, 118E, for $6,500.00 1429 RE- and payment of this amount into escrow with Stockton Ab - PASSED stract and Title Company as adopted in special meeting held July 9, 1948, was repassed and all actions talon thereunder affirmed by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen, Bull, Lytle, Tolliver, and Rinn. NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT: Councilman, Haskell. RESOLUTION Likewise, Resolution No. 1430 adopted July 9, 1948, authorizing 1430 a contract for the sale of the 40 acre Fredrickson and Watson REPASSED property to Henry L. and Ruby Anderson was repassed by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen, Bull, Lytle, Tolliver, and Rinn. NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT: Councilman, Haskell. In accordance with notice duly published, sealed bids for BIDS ON the furnishing of one or two automobiles for the Engineering AUTOS Department were now opened, proposals being received from OPENED Loewen Auto Company and Krieger Motor Company. All bids referred to the City Manager for consideration and recommen- dation. APPLICATION A letter from Dan Mayer and Dave Dollinger, owners of "Walnut FOR WATER & Orchard Tract. requesting assurance that sewer and water SPM-C.ALNUT service would be extended to this subdivision when improve - ORCHARD TRACT ments thereon warranted such extension was referred to the City Manager for reply. STADIUM Lodi Athletic Club, by letter, cancelled its 1948 reservations RESERVATIONS for use of Lodi Stadium. CANCELLED The report of the City Clerk of financial transactions for QUARTERLY the quarter ended June 30, 1948, was received and ordered REPORT filed. CITY CLERK , At this time representatives of Standard Oil Company and S. C. Standard Stations, Inc. requested reconsideration of the COMPANY Council's action in approving elimination of the souther- DRIVrNAY most driveway on School Street to the Service Station on the Northwest Corner of Pine and School Streets. These gentlemen were accompanied by Everett Mills, owner of the lot. It appearing that the principal use of this driveway was to allow access of Standard's semi -trailer tanker to the stations storage tanks, it was decided that no further action be taken until the Council and City Manager had witnessed the unloading of this truck and a demonstration of difficulties caused by omitting this approach. ( (The Council directed that this permit apply to Raridan only and not to any abiutting property being a specific variation from its rule and only allowed on account of a previous commitment made in good faith. Mr. Weller then presented his tentative 1948-1949 budget, furnishing copies to each Councilman, Department Heads 1948-49 and the Press. Mr. Weller requested that it be studied BUDGET and comments made -thereon by Councilmen and the general SUBMITTED public prior to the setting of a date for hearing and its adoption. Claims as audited and certified in the amount of $82,451.03 CLAIMS were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman $82,451.03 Buil, Tolliver second. ALLOWED At 10:10 P. M. the City Council adjourned to 8:00 P. M. of Wednesday, July 21, 1948, on motion of Councilman Tolliver.
