HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 16, 1948285 COU`ICIL CHAS?33?3 C:=Y COUICIL CI Y HALL - CITY OF LODI VMS NEMAY, JUNE 16 - 1948 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was field beginning at 8:00 o'clock P.M. of :4ednesday, June 16, 1948, Councilmen Bull, Haskell, Lytle, Tolliver and Rinn present, none absent. The minutes of the adjourned meeting of June 9, 191:8 were read. On page 282 in the recital of action taken to extend parallel parking of vehicles, a clerical error was ordered corrected to show that such parking was extended to the block of Church Street between Walnut Street and Lodi avenue. Also on page 284, third paragraph relating to the entrance salary of "Clerk -Cashier" insert the words " with the approval of the City Council " at the conclusion of this paragraph. }Minutes approved otherwise and so endorsed by the Mayor. PUBLIC HEARINGS - Mr John Gianonni outlined a proposal to install as a cc;ncession, air -plane and car rides suitable for the amusement of small GIANCPlNI children at Lake Park with perhaps a small merry-go-round. On PRGFCSAL account of limited available space and also that Mr Giannoni FOR RIDE did not make a firm offer, he was referred to Superintendent CONCE33ION of Parks Bruner, Recreation Director Pauly and City Engineer LAKE PARK Heckenlaible for selection of a tentative site and directed to present further information to the Council that would enable the Council to reach a decision. Stockton Labor Journal announced the publication of its annual STGCKTON Labor Day Edition. and requested that the City take space in LABOR this edition at a charge of from 435.00 to $60.00. It being JOURNAL the policy of the City to pay for publication of only items required by law and ordinance, the City Clerk was directed to so advise the Business 'tanager of the Journal i1"J.3GROPE The application of J. C. Musgrove for a thirty=foot _driveway 101 E.LCCUST on the Main Street side of his lot at 101 East Locust Street DRIVEWAY as reco=ended by Street Superintendent Bruner was approred ALLCF7ED in that part of this space adjoins a fire hydrant. TREASURER'S :he report of the City Treasurar-Collector for May was received MAY REPORT and copies furnished each Councilman. Formal confirmation of the Council's order of June 9th changing RES NO 1425 vehicle parking from an. -alar to parallel on Elm Street, Southern ADOPTED Pacific tracks to Stockton Street and on Church Street, Walnut to Lodz Avenue was had by the adoption of Resolution No. 1425 passed without dissenting vote. SALE 1926 Sale of a 1926 Model T Ford Touring Car no longer needed in FORD O.K. the Street and Park Department to W. L. Hampton for $25.00 was authorized. Chief of Police Millard L. Fore and Fire Chief George D. POLICE & FIRE Polenske presented lists , one of eleven police officers, the other of two firemen recommended for annual pay increases. Lists ordered filed with the 6ity Clerk for consideration of the overall pay structure and the annual budget. Ca the favorable report of Fire Chief Polenske, Walter Lehr, WALTER LEHR appointed probationary fireman December 26,1948 was retained PERMANENT in permanent employment effective July 1, 1948 with the custm- FIRU—Wl ary increase of $10.00 per month salary due on confirmation as a permanent employee. Mayor Rim appointed Councilman Bull and City Manager Weller members of this rules committee. J. CH-BVIS read and ordered referred to the Chief of Police. In the APPLICATICN matter of the application of Emmons J. Chevis for a vendor's FOR LICBNSE license filed April 15,1948 to sell soft drinks and ice cream from a truck, refused April 21st, applicant was advised _ to re -apply under Section 1 of Subdivision 13 of Ordiaanca No. 277. At 10: 20 P.M. the City Clerk was excused and left the meet- ing, Councilman Haskell keeping the following record there- after: Pending the lay -ng of an eight inch water line along Woodbridge TEMPORARY Road, R. G. McLane, Assistant Water Superintendent and G. D. WATER SERVICE Polenske, Fire Chief were directed to effect temporary relief N.W. to residents in Mackie Tract, Delk Subdivision and vicinity now suffering from lack of water. In order to give persons thought to be unjustly charged for sewer rentals or for water service, it was moved by Councilman BOARD OF Haskell, Bull second, that the Board of Adjustment created ADJUSTMENT by Section 15 of Ordinance No 362 be called into session MEETING at an early date, notice of time and place to be given by CALLED publication of notice and such other means as would enable interested persons to be present and present their cases. At 11:05 o'clock P.M. the City Council adjourned to and until 8:00 o'clock P.M. of Wednesday, June 23, 1948 on motion of Councilman Tolliver.
