Councilmen MINUTES OF Bull, Haskell, Tolliver and Rinn present, Councilman Lytle PREVIOUS absent. ]MEETING The minutes of. the last meeting held May 12,1948 were read, � approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. This being the time and place set by Resolution No. 1418 adopted April 21,1948 for a public hearing on the intention of the City Council to annex Lots 15 and 22 of the Gerard X;URD OF ROAD Tract as uninhabited territory, due publidation of Resolut- HEARING ON ion No 1418 containing notice of such hearing, was had by ANNEXATION affidavit and the Mayor announced the meeting open to the LOTS 15 & 22 reception of objections. None were offered and the Clerk GERARD TRACT reported that no written protests had been filed with him. ORDINANCE Councilman Tolliver then moved the introduction of Ordinance NO. 371 No. 371,°AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE ANNiXATION OF LOTS 15 & INTRODUCED 22 GERARD TRACT ADDITICK TO THE CITY OF LODI, CALIFORNIA " Councilman Haskell seconded this motion and the ordinance COMPENSATION was read at length by the Clerk and ordered laid over for INSURANCE the statutory period of not less than five days by this sass; motion by unanimous consent. On the written recommendation of Street Superintendent W. L. Bruner, award of contracts for furnishing materials and the rental of equipment on which bids were opened May 12th were X;URD OF ROAD awarded by the adoption of Resolution of Award No. 1421 as REPAIR follows - MATcZRI.LS Mineral Aggregate and Plant Mix - George French, Jr. RES. 1421 Road Oil Applied - Claude C. Wood Company ADOPTED Equipment Rental - Claude C. Wood Company This resolution passed by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bull, Haskell, Tolliver and Rinn. NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT : Councilman, Lytle. ±_ State Compensation Insurance Fund notified the City Council COMPENSATION by letter that owing to the high loss experience of the City INSURANCE in 1947, no dividend would be paid on compensation insurance premiums for that year. Notice and invitation to attend the annual meeting of Lodi COORDINATING Coordinating Council was received from the Secretary, this COUNCIL. meeting to be '_:eld May 27th at 7;00 P.M. On recommendation of the City Planning Commission and on VARIENCE motion of Councilman Tolliver, Haskell second, a varience was GRANTED ordered granted Otto Huft for permission to erect a dwelling OTTO HUFT on the Southeast corner of Tokay Street and Church Street, set back 14 feet from Tokay Street provided a 15 foot side yard was maintained on church Street. Contrary to the recommendation of the City Planning Commiss- VARIENCE ion, a varience was refused A. L. Fox for permission to erect REFUSED an attached accessory garage at 514 Forrest Avenue, the Council A. L. FOX stating that this should be a detached building located to the rear of the building occupied as a dwelling G. T. Duerksen, now empolyed in the Park Department, protested G.T.DU"10W by letter and in person against an oral notification that, PROT::STS owing to reduction in force, his services would be no longer SEPARATION needed, separation effective June 1, 1948. Mr Duerksen was assured that he was entitled to re-employment if and when additional men were employed in the lines of work in which he had been engaged, APRIL REPORT The April report of the City Treasurer was received and TREASURER conies furnished each Councilman. Business license applications submitted May 5th were approved except that of Blanche Gabrielli 201, South Main and all applications received since that date referred to the Chief of Police. (minutes of May 19, 1948 continued ) At 9:50 P.Lt. the City Council was resolved into Committee of the Whole so remaining until 10:20 P.U. when open meet- ing was resumed. Execution of a lease on the westerly 25 acres of the land PARADELA LEASE purchased from Fredrickson & Natson to A. Paradela was APPROVED approved, rental to be at $30.00 per acre for the crop year At 11:25 P.}L. the City Council adjourned to 8:00 P.M. of Wednesday, May 26, 1948, motion of Councilman Tolliver.
