TUESDAY, APRIL 20,1948
In accordance Frith the previsions of Section 9918 of the Elections
Code of the State of California, the City Council of the City of Lodi met
at 8:00 o'clock P.M. of Tuesday, April 20, 1948 to canvass the returns
of the General Municipal Election of April 13, 1948 and to install the
newly elected officers; Councilmen Lytle, Tolliver and Rinn present,
Councilmen Haskell and Riggs absent.
I Mayor Rinn called the meeting to order and the City Clerk presented
the returns of election from the six precincts together with his written
I report certifying that the election had been regularly conducted in accord-
ance with the laws applying to elections in sixth class cities.
After a canvass of the election returns by the Council in open public
meeting, the results thereof were ascertained and the declarations made as
to the officers elected by the adoption of the following resolution, intro-
duced by Councilman Lytle, Tolliver second:

'ti:"kr:AS, a general municipal election was held and conducted in the
City of Lodi on Tuesday, the 13th day of April, 1948, as is required by law,
AND, ''AaREAS, it appears from the report of the City Clerk and the
records on file in his office that notice of said election was duly and
legally given; that voting precincts were properly established and the
polling places thereof designated; that election officers were appointed
and qualified; that election supplies including official ballots were
furnished each of said precincts and that, in all respects, said election
was field and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed
and the returns thereof made, determined and declared in time, form and
manner as required by laws of this state providing for and regulating
municipal elections in sixth class cities, and,
{ WEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi meeting at the Council
I Chambers thereof on this Tuesday, the 20th day of April, 1948 to canvass
the returns of said election and to install the newly elected officers,
finds, as a resuly of said canvass, that the number of votes cast, the
names of the persons voted for, the offices for which said election was had
and all other matters required by law to be as hereinafter stated, now
therefore,
IT IS HEREBY FOUIM, DETERMINED 21D DECLARED:
(1) That said election was held and conducted in the City of Lodi,
California on the 13th day of April, 1948 in the time, form and manner
required by law;
(2) That there were six voting precincts established in said.City
for the purpose of holding said election, as follows:
CONSOLIDATED VOTING PP.ECINCT A., comprising San Joaquin County
precincts 1, 2. 3 and 23 as established for holding state and county
elections.
CONSOLIDATED VOTING PRECINCT B., comprising San Joaquin County
precincts 4, 5, 6 and 22 as established for holding state and county
elections.
CONSOLIDATED VOTING PRECINCT C., comprising San Joaquin County
precincts 7, 8, 9 and 18 as established for holding state and county
elections.
CONSOLIDATED VOTING PRECINCT D., comprising San Joaquin County
precincts 10, 11, 13 and 19 as established for holding of state and
county elections.
CONSOLIDATED VOTING PRECINCT E., comprising San Joaquin County
i precincts 12, 14 and 15 as established for holding of state and county
i elections.
i CONSOLIDATED VOTING PRECINCT F., comprising San Joaquin County
precincts -16, 17, 20 and 21 as established for holding of state and
county elections.
(3) That the whole number of ballots cast in said City of Lodi at the
said election was TINU THOUSAND THREE HUND:MD EIGHTY-EIGHT (2388)
(4) That the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which
they were voted, the number of votes received by each of said persons in
each of said precincts together with the whole number of votes received
in the entire city by each of said persons is as follows:

R. iCLVED - therefore, that at said General Municipal Election held in
in the City of Lodi on April 13, 1948, the following named persons were
elected to the offices and for the terms hereinafter set forth, to -wit -
HARRY J. TOLLIV-zR was elected a member of the City Council for a terns
of four years, from and after Tuesday, April 20, 1948 and until his successor
shall have been elected and shall have qualified;
CLIFFORD B. BULL was elected a member of the City Council for a term
of four years from and after Tuesday, April 20, 1948 and until his successor
shall have been elected and shall have oualified.
Upon the adoption of this resolution, the City Cleric shall enter a
full copy thereof on the Records of this City Council for its meeting of
April 20, 1948.

The foregoing Resolution No. 1416 was then passed and adopted by
the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen, Lytle, Tolliver and Rinn Nayor)
NOES: Councilmen, None.
ABSENT: Councilmen, Haskell and Riggs.
Councilman elect Tolliver and Bull then signed the statutory oath of office.
On motion of Councilman Tolliver, the City Council then adjourned
to the day and hour of its next regular meeting to be held Wednesday,
April 21, 1948
