Seven proposals on the furnishing of a 1 Ton
Truck and four on a 3/4 Ton Pickup for use of the
Public utilities as secured by the Superintendent
of that Department were received and considered.
All ordered referred to the Superintendent of
':tilities and City Engineer for recommendation.
Lodi Retail Merchants Association requested that
two parking meters on South School Street im-
mediately north of Walnut Street in front of the
Federal Building be removed and the spaces left
marked "no parking" in order to leave access to a
curbside letter box to be erected by the Post Office
Department. Recommendation approved and changes
ordered as requested. This same request included
the changing of parking meters on the east side of
School Street from Walnut Street to the alley -way
northerly therefrom to those having a 10 or 12
minute parking limit. Cn account of the difficulty
of policing such limited parking meters, no action
was taken in this regard.
resolution of Lodi Retail Merchants Association
requesting that all parking meters be set on a two
hour limit (excepting those in front of the Federal
Building) was tabled.
City Engineer A. C. Heckenlaible reported that he
was in process of filing for unappropriated waters
of the American River for irrigaticn•and domestic
uses and also for municipal purposes, including
domestic, recreational and industrial uses.
Mr. Heckenlaible also stated that, acting on the
advice of the .State Division of Water Resources,
Messrs. Eddlemon,Hieb and Hoffman had refiled
on waters of the E:okelumne River, Dry Creek, Bear
Creek, and Paddy Creek including domestic and -
municipal uses in this filing (succeeding that made
February 24th) and increasing the size of the area
to be served Westerly to lower Sacramento Road,
thus including the City of Lodi.
":r. Heckenlaible was directed to continue with these
filings and pursue them to completion.
The application of Evangelist Irene S. Wagner
presented March 3, 1948, for permission to use a
part of the old "Salem School" grounds was denied,
it being apparent that the meetings proposed to
be held were not sponsored by any local religious
organization.
