Foster, Hotel Lodi, 7 South School Street, for card and dice game license at that address was tabled pending further report articularly to the words *private card roam written in the application. An pplication for a similar license signed by Mohammed Nasher, 110 North Sacrem- ato Street was denied in accordance with the recamendation of the Chief of olice " Motion Councilman Haskell, Tolliver second. Sacramento Street complained of continued SEER TROUBLE sewer trouble, stating that the sewer main in the alley to the 11 N.SACTO. west of his dwelling was clogged with roots from a neighbors poplar tree. Complaint referred to the City manager for attent- ion of the Water and Sewer Department. MI)ORT Or ^_".1~.' CITY MIA - City Manager Weller read the application of ?dward Z. Dancer, Jess M. La Roe and James Parkerson, co-partners proposing to operate a taxicab company under the name of Tokay Cab Company 'LICATION for a taxicab permit under Ordinance No. 268 as filed with the DANM_ City Clerk on October 17,1949. The City Clerk was directed to AL FOP. set this application for hearing at 8:00 P,M. of Wednesday, TCAB November 16, 1949 and publish notice thereof as well as notifying 511T the holder of the only other taxicab permit of the time and place 31VED of hearing. One of the applicants, Jess M.La Hoe asked the Council as to the character of the evidence applicants would have to submit in suRport of their application. Mayor Rinn informed Mr La Roe of the provisions of applicable sections of Ordinance No. 286. Seven Councilmen and City Officers signified their intention to - LCC attend the quarterly meeting of the Central Palley Division of 'ALE the Leaigue of California Cities to be held in Oakdale, Thursday, 20,1949 October 20, 1949 after the City Manager read the call for this meeting issued by the Division President, Mr L. L. ventre.. A_Tangements were completed for city officers intending to be present at the annual conference of the League of California Cities in San Francisco, October 23 to 26. On the request of the City Clerk, transmitted by the City Manager, the City Clerk was granted more tfte in which to prepare and submit an ordinance prohibiting vehicular parking on the north NG ON side of Lodi Avenue, S.P. main line tracks to lhtehins Street. AVE Mr Weller and Councilmen Bull spoke of the dangerous parking D conditions on Pleasant Avenue, Chestnut to Pine Street and Mayor 94T AY: Rinn suggested that this condition be investigated together with West Lodi Avenue parking problems, it was suggested by Councilman Bull that " No Parking " signs be painted on the pavement of Pleasant Avenue for a test period to ascertain the benefit of the parking prohibition. City Manager Weller praaised early investigation of.both of these streets. ST Councilman Bull requested the. official signs be erected stating ST. that West Dine Street crest of Avema Avenue is not a through street. In answer to a request of the City .Manager for a statement of Council policy in regard to proceedure to acquire off-street RMT vehicle parking space; he was directed to have the down -town G LOTS areas mapped and this map submitted to the Council so that SED plans could be made for future off-street parking areas; riles and regulations to govern use of these areas to be adopted later. NOES: Councilman, None. ABSENT: Councilmen, None. Mayor Rinn then signed Ordinance No. 401 in approval thereof. RE?ORT The quarterly report of the Chief of Lodi Fire Department for ^. the period ended September 30th was read, copies being furnished each Councilmen and the press. COIN MAC. -MZ- The petition of 28 tavern owners presented October 5th was laid PETITION over for further study on the subject of coin operated amusement LAID OVER —chines. PETIr'L�74": The consideration of a.retirement system for City employees ass S'_'STEM deferred to a special meeting, the time and place to be dater - mined at the November 2nd meeting so that the entire evening could be devoted exclusively to this matter At 10:41 P.M. the City Council adjourned on motion of Cogncilman Tolliver. HLAIMY, Cit erk A final map of five acres of land in Burr's Addition to Lodi West of Grant Avenue entitled " Schneider Tract " was approved for recordadion with the following reservation " Approval of this map FINAL MAP is not to be construed as an acceptance of rejection of the avenues SCHNEIDER M. and streets. The offer to dedicate said avenues and streets to APPROVED, public use will be accepted in full or in any part thereof, if and P=5 IAT -_W. when their improvement has been completed in the manner and to the extent provided in the order of this City Council given May 12, 1948 and recorded in Vol. 7 at Page 274 ' Record of the City Council of the City of Lodi ` save and except that Falls Avenue may be improved by grading and oiling the same in lieu of plank mix surfacing required on other streets " Map so approved on motion of Councilmen Tolliver, Bull second. - On the recommendation of Northern San Joaquin Safety Council, it was directed that intersection lights be installed at the inter- IN'=SECTICtI sections of East Lockeford Street with Main Street, Washington LIGHTS ON Street, Stockton Street and North Central Avenue. This order E.= ST issued in the interest of public safety in that these intersect- ions ere continually used at night by pedestrians attending events in the Stadium, Ball Parks or the (tape and Wine Pavillion. Claims in the amount of $9,348.71 as submittgd by the City Manager CLAIMS and certified from the Finance Department were allowed and ordered paid. Motion Councilman Haskell, Bull second. The City Manager was authorized to rent the Stadium for November STADITIM 2nd. to Jose Chitwood for an auto pageant on the deposit of rent N04.• 2 of $200.00 in advance and a deposit of $50.00 to cover payment CF11TWCOD of light and water bills, it being understood that the head tax of 10gr per admission would be paid by lessee. IN RE: The City Manager reported in !till on the complaint made October DON BAILEY 5th by Don Bailey regarding purchase of photographic materials by the Police Department.
