SPECIAL MEETING - MARCH 29,1949
A special meeting of the raity Council of the City of Lodi,convened
at the request of the City Manager, was held beginning at 4:43 o*clock
P.M. of Tuesday, March 29, 1949, In the City Council Chambers, City
Hall, Lodi, California, each member of the City Council• having signed
a n Waiver of Formal. Notice and Consent to Special Meeting " prior to
the opening of this meeting.
Councilmen Hull, Sasksll, Lytle, Tolliver and Rina present, also
City Manager Weller, City Clerk Blakely, representatives of the press
and such other persons as might be interested in the buaimess to be -
transacted as stated in the Waiver of Notice, i.e. negotiating the
sale or lease of all or any part of that certain fmrty acre tract is
Section 31; Township 3 North, Rem ge 7 Best acquired by the City of
Lodi from Fredrickson do Watson Construction Company by deed dated
June 9, 1947 and recorded September 10, 1947 in Book of Official
Records, Pal 1094, page 42, San Joaquin County Records and, if so
determined, to authorize the execution of deeds, contracts or leases
thereof.
The City Manager read the following offers:
A.T.Selm for the Nesterly three acres at $650.00 per acre
L.D.Snith for the dwelling and one acre $ 2,500 on terms
W.B.Mam for the dwelling and equivalent of one lot, $2,750, also
on term payments.
C.T. & Lester Lind, $10,500.00 for the entire 40 acres _
These offers and other possibilities were discussed, also the
effect of the falling market on real property values. It being
apparent that the City could have no ianediate or future use for the
tract, it having been purchased for a special purpose as a refuse
disposal site and now supplanted by the acquisition of the liaraey
Zane Refuse Disposal Area, it was moved by Councilman Haskell, Bull
second, that the offer of Lind and Son be accepted providing that
payment be made in cash on delivery of a deed to this property.
Lester Lind offered a check for $1,000 but as this check was -
made payable to C. T. Lind and not endorsed, the same was returned
to him. Mr C. T. Lind appeared at this time and promised to deliver
a down payment check for $1,000 and an egreament to purchase for cash
to the City Manager on the morning of Starch 30, 1949.
At 5:50 P.M. the City Council adjourned.
