The minutes of the regular meeting of February 16th end of the meeting adjou-wed therefrom held February 21,1949 were approved as written and mailed. CITY I+ L ACZR' S RE.?ORT - Kr H. D. Weller, City manager presented the recommendation A:aRD 2 TON of W. L. Bruner, Street Superintendent, that award of the _TRUCK TO contract to furnish a two ton truck)on which bids xere opened LiJ_7=.di ADM =ebr:ary 16th, to Loeaen Auto Company at $2,141.53 as the lowest and best bid. Recommendation accepted and award made in accordance therewith, motion Councilman Lytle, Haskell second. five year contract for garbage collection effective from PW J C01TmeCT April 1, 1949 providing for modifidation of the amount to SCA.WG&R CO. be ::7 theld by the City so as to compensate the contractor, A2PROV_7D. Sanitary City Scavenger Companytfor increased costs and the longer haul to the Harney Lane Disposal Sites without adding to the cost to customers, as submitted by Mr Weller, was approved and the *.mayor authorized to execute the same on motion of Councilman Bull, Haskell second. - A proposed agreement with Central California Traction Co. covering removal of that Company's tracks on Sacramento C.C.T.CO. PIIBLiC H6AR1I6CS - A, this time, Mayor P1nn announced the meeting open to .S. public hearing on natters that those attending the meeting PROFOSaL might care to present, reading an offer of Lodi High School BASF--4aTs- and the Associated Students of that school to contribute PARK LIGHT- $5,000.00 toward the adequate lighting of the Lawrence Park a'G• base -ball field.As this offer was predicated on a twenty- five year preference for use of the field on certain dates, Council -an Haskell suggested that any contract into which the City might enter should have a cancellation clause. Sem Suelzle be allowed to extend the non -conforming use of the USE building at 616 South Garfield Street by an addition of a 11 by 1 18 foot office wa-s also approved, the Planning Commission having found that this extension would not be ham ful to properties in the vicinity. The MAIL BOX Superintendent of Streets referred this matter to the City Manager 412,1 E.LODI so that the City Council might determine a policy for locating mail boxes of tenants of premises not fronting of a street, along a near -by street. Lacking full information, it ras directed that permit be delayed pending further investigation. The application of Jake Weigand for a card and dice game license at 113 North Cherokee Lane with a notation from the Chief of Police CAM & DICE that it had been ;'he consistent policy of his department to oppose LIC,-iISE such licenses in the vicinity of trailer courts and carp grounds 113 TT.MWCB- was read. Councilman Bull stated that this place had had such a res LAKE license for the past several years and that it appeared to him that this was an application for renewal of such license under another proprietor -ship. The City Manager was authorized to grant this license if it was in fact a renewal of a former permit. - The quarterly Report of Fire Chief George D. Polenake for the period ended March 31, 1949 was submitted by the City Manager and copies M -PORTS. garnished each Councilman, the Press and one for the record. Chief of Police Forests report for February was read and ordered filed. ?land, Specifications. and Contract Documents for the laying of storm drains in Lockeford Street and in Oak Street were presented LCCEF"r'ORD & to the City Council" as prepared by the City Engineer, also his OA8 STREET statement as to the prevalidIg wage scale obtaining at this time STOW DRAIN in the Lodi area. These plans, specifications and the wage scale PLANS AP.rWV- were approved and adopted for this work by the adoption of ZD. RES 1457 Resolution No. 1457, introduced by Councilman Hull, Haskell second ADOPT* and passed by the fall -owing vote: Am -:S: Councilmen, Bull, Haskell, Lytla and Rinn NOES: Councilmen, None.
