CITY BAIL - CITY OF LODI
- APRIL 2, 1952
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi held beginning at five minutes past $:GO ovclock P.M. of
Wednesday Appril 2 1952- Councilmen Bull, Haskell, Preszler,
i Rinn and lolliver (Mayor] present, none absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting of March 19, 1952 as
written, were approved, copies thereof having been mailed
each Councilman prior to this meeting.
REPORT OF THE CITY MANAGER -
Mr Weller presented a proposed agreement for
consideration between the City and Lodi Grape
and Wine Festival and National Wine Show.
PROPOSED 10 Copies had previously been made available to
YEAR CONTRACT members of the City Council. Councilman Bull
G & W FESTIVAL inquired as to whether this agreement had been

for review and moved that the agreement be

to approve would virtually be a veto on Council
action and Mayor Tolliver, that by this agree-
ment the City is providing facilities for
recreational use, which facilities -will be
administered by the Recreation Commission.
Finally decided that the agreement be first
be submitted to the Recreation Commission for
comments and any suggested amendments and then
returned to the City Council for further
consideration before its approval.
On recommendation of Mr Weller, he was inst-

Councilman Bull spoke of the congested traffic

PUBLIC HEARINGS -
At the order of the Mayor a public hearing

west side of School Street immediately south
of Pine Street; the other In front of the Grey-
hound Bus Depot. On a call for objection to
the South School Street stand, none were offer-
ed and Councilman Preszler moved, seconded by
Councilman Bull that this: stand be allowed.
Motion carried without dissent and so ordered.

Street. It was suggested that present and
proposed driveways used by Loewen Auto Company
be reduced in width so as to permit the cont-
inuance of the present stand of City Cab Company
and another similar space for Gholson. At.the
Bugestion of Attorney Rott, this hearing was
continued to the April 15th meeting so that
interested parties.and the City Manager could
present an amicable agreement.
Another public hearing was held following the
above, this one on the proposal of the City
Planning Commission that provision be made for
the ultimate widening of West Lodi Avenue from
Southern Pacific railroad to Hutchins Street

PACIFIC MAIN.LINE.RIGHT OF WAY TO SOUTH.

ordinance ordered laid over for the statutory
period on not less than five days.

Councilman Haskell stated that Harold Pope,
209 W. Walnut Street had complained of all -
day parking on the north side of the 200
block of West Walnut Street while there is
ALL -DAY ample space on the south side of the street.
PARKING IN None of the residences in this block have
200 BLOCK OF access driveways and the street being parked
W.WALNUT ST. solidly, residents cannot stop in front of
their premises. City Manager Weller suggested
that these " all -day parkers." be given notes
by the Police Department asking them to park on
the south side of the street.
CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
A variance as to side yard, formerly rear yard,
appertaining to Lot 19, Crosby Park, reducing
REAR YARD it to three feet along the alley, as recommended

to erect a duplex.dwelling on this lot, 540

Oscar T: Gulickson, 840 S. School Street, was
granted a use permit to allow servicing of
GULICKaON radio and television apparatus as a home
USE PERMIT occupation for a; period ending December 31,1952
ONE YEAR subject to restrictions imposed by the City

checked as to compliance before any renewal is
allowed.

Claims in the amount of $68,353.02 as approved
by the City Manager were allowed and ordered
paid on motion of Councilman Rinn, Bull second.
ORDINANCES -
ORDINANCE NO. 455 TM AMENDING THE ZONE DISTRICT
MAP.OF THE CITY OF LODI AND THEREBY REZONING
AND RECLASSIFYING.EACH OF LOTS 18, 20, 22 AND
24, BLOCK B,.SUBDIVISION OF LOT 72, LODI BARN -
HART TRACT TO BE IN TH& INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT
ORDINANCE.455 ZONE " having been introduced after public.
ADOPTED hearing on March 19th., was brought up for
passage on motion of Councilman Preszler, Bull
second, second reading omitted by unanimous
consent, after reading by title, and then
passed, adopted and ordered to print by the:
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen, Preszler, Bull, Haskell,
Rinn and Tolliver
NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT: None.
Mayor Tolliver then signed Ordinance No. 455
in approval thereof.
Improvements at the ten acre park site on
South Stockton Street were discussed for some
time; City Manager Weller stated that removal
of the vines had been ordered. Sentiment
expressed was that the land should be leveled
and some kind of planting made so that there
would be no dust nuisance.
On motion of Councilman Bull, the City Council
adjourned to 7:30 P.M. of Tuesday, April 15th.
