The feasibility of partial development was disputed, sore contending that leveling must be done as a whole. Both Mayor Tolliver and City Wnage= Weller emphasized the matter of present shortages in materials for complete development, particularly piping for sprinkler system. Also, the City Recreation Commission's plans had apparently reached no final state; at one time, this Commission advocated development of two and one -ba -If acres this year; at another time, the Commission had proposed tae entire ten acres for immediate improvement. There was no provision made in the Glans for street opening and improvement and no cost estimates had been prepared. Council—n Haskell suggested a point meeting of the City Council and the City Recreation Commission, to be held at the earliest opportunityywould enable the City Council to arrive at a decision in this matter. Mayor Tolliver con- curred with P& Haskell's statement. IL' Haskell then moved that the Mayor arrange such a meeting to be held before February 20th; .Councilman Bull seconded this motion and on a vote being had, motion carried. City ?manager Weller reported that the seating capacity of the seats offered to the City by the San Francisco Seals &;SLBaIL was nearer to 1,500 instAad of 1,800 as stated January 16th SMAITMG when the Council authorized an offer of $8,000.00. The .:QOM Seals management will accept $8,000.00 for the lot which they originally demanded $12,500.00. Informally, the City Council had approved purchase at the $8,000.00 figure. Howen, proprietor of Haven Hardware, 7 N. School Street complained that the Police Department was tagging J.S.HOVM his service truck when parked in the alley between Pi:e and ALLBY Elm Streets. He requested permission to park this truck PA-=aMTG so that it would be available on call but refused an offer, made informally, to have a loading zone marked off in front of his place of business. At the order of the W-yor, =- Howen's complaint vas referred to the Chief of Police to investigate the possibility of allowing " service tnrcksw to park in all ways near the place of business of the truck's oemer. All Councilmen seemed to favor granting of -this permit but were in doubt as to the most desireable location. Mr Giannoni requested that the rides be located in the southeast corner of the park lands but agreed to abide by any decision made by the City Council. Moved by Councilman Bull, Haskell second, that the permit _ issue, location and other details to be determined after consultation with the City ?tanager and the Director of Recreation. A. Occupancy of a metal euonset type building at 810 South Sacramento Street for body and fender repairs was approved although technically in violation of building code provisions; it being held that this location, between an iron foundary and a cement pipe yard would hot add to fire hazards. Held that the technical provisions of the building code do not apply in this instance and that an addition to the building be Permitted and that the entire building be allowed to be used for auto repairs. This latter appeal made by Ray J. Henderson, vomer and Alfred I. Tombie, lessee. Permit ordered issued on motion of Councilman Buil, Rinn second. The City Attorney -was instructed to institute abatement proceedings against the premises at 739 South Central Avenue ABATH5Z;T occupied by William S. Reese. The Chief of the Fire Depart - 739 S.CMT' AL ment and the Sanitarian from San Toaquin Local Health District ORD ---R having found that conditions now existing were a fire menace and a Potential menace to health.
