HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - May 5, 1954322 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF LODI CCUNCIL CHA.MEE, CITY HALL MAY 5, 19514 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi held begin- ning at 8:00 o'clock p.m. of Wednesda.v, May 5, 1954; Councilman Hughes, Mitchell, Richey, Robinson and Fuller (Mayor) present; none absent. City Manager Weller and City Attorney Mullen also present. Minutes of the previous meeting April 7, 1954 and April 20, 1954 were approved after the following correction to the seventh: sentence in the paragraph entitled "B. W. FULLER ELECTED MAYOR" of the minutes of April 20, 1954: "Nominations were then closed on the motion of Councilman Robinson, Richey second." REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER SPECS The City Manager presented specifications prepared by the CONCRETE City Engineer for the purchase of concrete pipe sufficient PIPE to cover the needs for sewers in the Windsor and Bel -lis Tracts as well as the Washington Street interceptor to Kettleman Lane. The estimated cost is $9573. The specifi- cations were approved and the City Manager was authorized to advertise for bids on the motion of Councilman Robinson, Richey second. SPECS The City Manager presented the specifications for a conriinutor COMMINUTOR which the City Ehgineer recommends be purchased and installed at the Sewage Treatment Plant. The installation of this equipment will eliminate the rotary screen process noa in operation. The estimated cost of the comminutor is $5686, less $3021 allowance as trade in for the smaller machine purchased by the City in 19148. The cost of installation is estimated at $1500. On the motion of Councilman Richey, Mitchell second, the Council approved the specifications and authorized the advertising for bids. SPECS Specifications for the construction of a sanitary sewer inter - WASHINGTON ceptor to be installed on Washington Street from the present SEWER termination of that line at the alley south of Oak Street to INTERCEPTOR Vine Street, thence Vine Street to Stockton Street, and along Stockton Street to Kettleman Bane, Were presented and approved on the motion of Councilman Mitchell, Hughes second. CLAIMS: Claims in the amount of $60,281.57 were approved on the motion of Councilman Richey, Robinson second. CITY PLANNING COMMISSION ZOMiNG Mr. Weller presented a recommendation from -the City Planning ORDINANCE Commission for the amendment of Ordinance 1469 (Zoning Ordinance) AMENDMENT to permit the Planning Commission to vai-r or modify the front RECOMMENDED yard set -back requirements at any time prior to actual con- struction in a given block face when it is found by the Com- mission that such adjustment would provide better development. Such adjustments would apply uniformly in any block face throughout the subdivision. On the motion of Councilman Hughes, Richey second, public hearing on the proposed amend- ment was set for May 19, 1954. DIST. i1o. 1813 on the motion of Councilman Robinson, aighes second. AUTHORiM Councilman Hughes raised the question of repairing Lodi Arch. MAXITTi'r' Pe stated that he felt that some action should be taken on the TO STUDY matter. Fe then moved, Robinson second, that the 'payor be ARCH authorized to appoint a committee to investigate the problem and report its findings to the City Council.
