CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF LODI
COUNCIL CHAMBER, CITY HALL
NOVEMBER 2, 1955
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi
held beginning at $:00 o'clock p.m. of Wednesday, November 2,
1955; Councilmen Fuller, Hughes, Mitchell, Richey and Robinson
(Mayor) present; none absent. City Attorney Mullen and City
Manager Weller also present.
Minutes of the previous meeting of October 19, 1955, were
approved as written and mailed.
COMMUNICATIONS
JUVENILE
Letter from the Chief of Police inviting the City
OFFICERS
Council to the annual point meeting between the
Northern California and the Central Valley Juvenile
Officers' Associations to be held in Lodi, November
8, 1955.
REPORTS
OF THE CITY :TANAGER
AUTO SPECS
Specifications for the purchase of twelve auto-
mobiles and the trade-in of nine automobiles from
various departments including the replacement of
seven vehicles in the Police Department were ap-
proved on the motion of Councilman Hughes, Richey
second.

The City Manager read a letter from the Pension

Board recommending unanimously that the City of

Lodi proceed with arrangements for the inclusion
of the City's employees under the benefits of
Federal Old Age and Survivors Insurance program.
The Board recommended participation on a full
supplemental basis and asked that an election of
the employees be called as soon as possible. It
also recommended that the program be instituted
as of January 1, 1956. Councilman Richey moved,
Mitchell second, that the City Council reaffirm
the position of previous Councils to make Social
Security available to the City's employees and
to authorize the City :Manager to proceed with the
necessary arrangements toward that end. The motion
passed by unanimous vote.
ABANDON POR. Mr. Weller presented a request that the City

of the Costa Tract. He explained that there are no
utilities in this easement and the City has re- tw,".
ceived an easement of four feet from the owner T11/es)
of the lot just south of Lot 22, thereby giving
the City ten feet if the requested abandonment is
approved. He added that both the City Engineer
and the Superintendent of Utilities have stated
that the City does not have any use for the
four feet in question. An order to abandon the
north four feet of the ten -foot easement border-
ing the south line of Lot 22 of the Costa Tract
was adopted on the motion of Councilman Hughes,
Fuller second.
CLAIMS Claims in the amount of $71,639.03 were approved
on the motion of Councilman Richey, Mitchell
second.

CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
FENCE The City Manager read a report from the Zoning
APPROVED Committee approving the erection of a five-foot
fence along the property owned by Mr. Don Furbish.
REZONING The City Manager read a report that the City

HAM LANE & the rezoning of a parcel 125 feet by 125 feet
LOCKEF^ORD ST. at the northeast corner of Ham Lane and Lockeford
Street from R-1 to C-1 District. On the motion
of Councilman Hughes, Mitchell second, the Coun-
cil voted to set the matter for public hearing
on November 16, 1955.

OF LODI AVE. having been introduced at the regular meeting
BETW. HUTCHINS of October 19, 1955, was brought up for passage
& CRESCENT STS on the motion of Councilman Mitchell, Richey
second. Second reading was omitted by unanimous
consent after reading by title, and was then
passed, adopted and ordered to print by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen - Fuller, Hughes, Mitchell,
Richey and Robinson
NOES: Councilmen - None
ABSENT: Councilmen - None
:Mayor Robinson then signed Ordinance No. 542 in
approval thereof.
HU•GEES Mayor Robinson then appointed Councilman Hughes
APPOINTED to represent the City of Lodi in a meeting with
TO POUND the County Board of Supervisors and representatives
COMMITTEE from other cities in the County relative to the
problems involved in the collection and impound-
ment of stray animals in the respective juris-
dictions.
On the motion of Councilman Richey, the meeting
was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
