CUP,',,UNIO,tTIONS LAS Tit -CT Letter from the Southern Pacific Company, dated April i;Ii•:G 11, 1956, stating that the railroad had an interest in the lands lying within the Congressional Grant included in the Salas Tract Subdivision, and ranted to go on record as opposing any move to rezone this property from its present Industrial zoning. A:r. Weller reported that only two lots in the subdivision lie within the Congressional Grant and there has been no proposal to rezone these lots. i•ir. Weller was requested to so reply to the Southern Pacific Company and to forward a copy of the Company's letter to the City Planning Commission. Frank Reynolds, 544 Reynolds Road, Al- dated April 11, 1956, urging that the street known NK:RTUN as Reynolds Road, Pinkerton Avenue, Floral Avenue E�.UE and Cluff Avenue be given one name and that the name be Reynolds Road because it is the oldest name and because the section known as Reynolds Road has been seeded to the County. Air. ideller reported that County Road Commissioner Bradley held a meeting in Lodi and took a vote on the question of the street name, but the County has not taken action on naming that nortion of the street lying outside the City limits. It vas a. -reed that the matter should be referred to the City Pianager and the City Attorney fbr recommendation. Indicated on the map were those areas to be dedicated for street purposes by General Kills and a portion of the public right of way proposed to be .S. #1920 abandoned. The proposal was approved and Resolution OPTED No. 1920, declaring the intention of the City Council to abandon a portion of the public richt of way at the intersection of Turner Road and Mills Avenue, was adopted on the motion of Councilman rditchell, Richey second. i.:ay 16, 1956 was set for the public hearing c:n the proposed abandonment. Manager reported :DAR36UR- that the Commission had recommedned the rezonin} of TR. Lots 6 and 9 of the Barbour -Beckman Tract from C-1 to R-3. On ADGPTr;D the motion of Councilman Richey, Fuller second, the City Council adopted resolution No. 1919 awarding the contrGct for sewer installation to the Dallas Wilson Company. _ SIGI1ALS Mr. y:'eller reported that the Southern Pacific ComDanv LODI ALENJE sucz-ested the installation of flashinP sicnals at the - RR CROSSING Lodi Avenue crossing of the railroad tracks. Southern Pacific Dr000sed that the installation be a ioint venture with each party assuming one-half of"the cost. On the motion of Councilman Fuller, Riche: second, the Council voted to authorize the City I•:anager to negotiate with the Southern Pacific Company for the installation under the conditions as outlined. IGiJriLS Mr. Weller reported that the Southern Pacific Company also rroposed that flashing signals be installed at rn CrUJJIP.G the railroad crossine at the Turner itoad-Hills Avenue intersection and financed on the same 50-50 basis. The Soutern Pacific Company's estimate of cost for this intersection was x;6,100,00. On the motion of Councilman Hu�-hes, i.;itchell second, the Council voted to authorize the City Nanager to proceed in the same manner as aooroved for the Lodi Avenue crossing. The Absentee Ballots were evened and counted by Co':ncilmen Fuller and Hughes with the City Clerk. J. i+CBIiSON, for a term of four (4) years from and after the 17th day of April, 1956 and until his successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified; BCZANT F-,M.4KIAX, for a term of four (4) gears from and after the 17th day of April, 1956 and until his successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified. Unon the adoption of tt:is Resolution, the City Clerk shall enter a full copy_ thereof on the Records of the City Council of the City of Lodi for its meeting held this 17th day of April, 1956. City Clerk Glaves then administered the Constitutional f..ITCHL.LL Oath of Office and the oath of loyalty, required by L.LLCTED Sections 3100-3109 of the Government Code, to the `-� YCR the newly elected councilmen. Retiring Councilman Richey expressed her appreciation to the Council and the City admninistration for their cooperation during OZxNT her four years in office. The City Clerk then called itr.TGt.sltii't the new Council to order and called for nominations LLECTLD for :,ayor. Boyd B. i•:itchell was nominated by Council- .tiYG'R 0 TEl-i man Fuller, Hughes second. On the motion of Council- ran Robinson, Fuller second, the nominations were closed and a unanimous ballot cast for Councilman i•iitchell as Aiayor. The motion carried by unanimous vote of the City Council, and Mayor ".-itchell took his seat as presiaing officer of the City Council. PdayorLitchell then called for nominations for the office of La%or Fro Temnore. Ccnci'_man Robinson nominated, Fuller second, Councilman Bozant Katzakian P-5 Layor Fro Tempore. On the motion of Councilman Fuller, Robinson second, the nominations were closed and a unanimous vote was cast for Councilman Katzakian as IKayor Fro Tempore. 2":ayor :iitchell then thanked the Council for selecting him as their i,iayor and asked that the Council work in harmony and cooperation for the comin.,, year.
