Lodi held beginnin, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. of Wednesday,
December L, 1957; Councilmen Puller, Katzakian, Mitchell,
Robinson and Hughes (Mayor) present; none absent. City
Manager Claves present. City Attorney ?-culler_ present.
On motion of Councilman Katzakian, Puller second, the
minutes of November 20, 1957, were approved as written and
mailed.

Mayor Hughes called for public hearing on the
request of the City Cab Company for increase
in fares to be charged for taxi service in the
City of Lodi. ::o protests, either written
or oral, were presented. ::r. Jerald Kirsten,
representing the City Cab Company, stated that
the .empany would also like to have specific
authorization from the City to install meters
in the cabs. On motion of Councilman Katzakian,
Mitchell second, the Council accepted the new
scheiule of taxi fares in lieu of the former
schedule and approved installation of meters
in all taxicabs.
_Cayor Hughes then called for public hearing on
the establishment of setback lines on Vine
Street between Cherokee Lane and the Southern
Pacific Railroad at 30 feet from the center
line of the street. There being no protests,
either written or oral, Ordinance :o. 604,
establishing such setback lines on Tine Street,
was introduced on motion of Councilman Kat-
zakian, Robinson second.
Mayor Hughes called for the public hearing on
the rezoning from 0-1 commercial to C-2 commer-
cial of the property fronting on the west side
of Cherokee Lane between Pioneer Drive and
the Grape Festival Grounds. No protests,
either written or oral, were presented. Mr.
.illi=... Nathan spoke in behalf of the rezoning.
Ordinance No. 605, appro.vin5 the requested
rezoning, was introduced on motion of Council-
man-__tchell, Puller second.
The final map of Capell Estates was submitted
for approval. When attention_ was directed to
the existence of a one -foot strip of land in
Crescent Avenue reserved on the final map of
=cmesite Subdivision, Mr. Capell stated he had
not secured the dedication of this strip be-
ca'tse its owner, Mr. Houston, wanted over
61,000. The City Manager and City Attorney
pointed out that Mr. Houston had found it
necessary to dedicate more than one-half of
the street at the time he subdivided his prop-
erty. His reouest for payment of the sum for
